A stinky fiend flees! #Skunks are #nocturnal and thus most active at night. This little guy ran for about a mile before realizing he could just dip off the road! Did you know that a skunk's sulphuric spray has a range of 10 feet and can be smelled almost 2 miles away?
A few more fun facts:
1) A group of skunks is called a surfeit.
2) Skunks are immune to snake venom.
3) Skunks will eat honeybees and wasps and have been known to attack hives.
All you #homestead people: just a reminder to water your #geese 😂
Can anyone name these little guys? These were found on a #hike in the #PacificNorthwest near an alpine lake in the Royal Basin.
Thursday be crawlin' by like.... 🐛
Also called a cyanide millipede, this yellow-spotted millipede exudes hydrogen cyanide when threatened. This may only cause irritation in humans, but it's lethal to birds and rodents. Watch out for these lil devils while #hiking in the #PNW!
Hangin' with the herd! This is the full family of #NigerianDwarf #goats who reside on my family's #homestead in Texas 🐐
Since its lowest point of less than 500 in the late 1800s, America's #bison population reached 500,000 in 2017. Today, roughly 1,400 of these majestic creatures roam the 71,000 acres of #CusterStatePark in the #BlackHills of South Dakota. I stumbled upon this herd several times while #hiking the #CentennialTrail.
That part of the hike when the #dogs are barking!
Hung out with these little buggers on my latest #hike, the southern half of the #CentennialTrail in the #BlackHills of South Dakota.
