Do you have a security camera and reside in the city of Beaufort?

The Beaufort Police Department wants your help in fighting crime by taking part in the Camera Registry Program (CRP). We are expanding on the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office CRP and offering it to the citizens of the City of Beaufort. The CRP allows residents and business owners to register the locations of their video surveillance systems with the Beaufort Police Department. When a crime occurs, police will be able to identify the locations of nearby video cameras and enlist the assistance of the community to help officers collect video evidence and follow up on leads.

Through the program, the Beaufort Police Department will be able to directly contact CRP registrants who are using video in an area in which a crime occurred. Police would ask CRP registrants to check their video surveillance system for a specific date and time for video that may show activity involved with a crime and possibly provide a copy of the surveillance video, such as a getaway car or the direction that a person of interest was headed.

Registering your cameras is completely free and voluntary. The Beaufort Police Department will NOT have direct access to your cameras. Your information will be kept confidential, and you can contact us at any time to withdraw your registration.

The registration process is simple and only takes a few minutes to complete. Simply click the link below complete the registration form, and click “Submit”.
