The United States of America

"A grimy, dented candy tin sits in a thrift store. How did it get there? What stories could it tell? Who used it, loved it—and left it?

An Irish immigrant picks up a gleaming “Ruth’s Home Run” candy tin in a general store in 1920s America. From the rocking 50s to the dour 2000s to The Future, the candy tin travels through modern America.

The Future is The Past."

"Happy-go-lucky Daisy (30) starts her first day working as a taxi driver for an online taxi service. Her first customer is Esther (31) a cool introvert and newly fired woman. She is waiting in front of a tall office building with a box full of office supplies and an almost dead plant. Esther has no clear destination and would like to go to nature. Daisy knows a nice place for Esther and they leave the city. For Daisy, everything about this woman begins to fall into place and Esther's final destination suddenly becomes very clear.

Will Daisy succeed in changing Esther's final destination?"

Hello everyone! I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Julia Chereson and I am the new Fine Arts Coordinator at SCC. I know that it has been a tough year-and-a-half for many (if not all) of us, and last year's Autumn Shorts Film Festival had to be canceled due to concerns around COVID-19 transmission.

This year, I'm looking for a way to bring it back. Of course, as a new member of the SCC team, I hadn't started this role in time to seek out films for this year's festival.

This post is a call to the community with a pressing question: Do you have a short film that is ready for submission? Do you know someone who does?

If you or someone you know has a film that is 15 minutes or less, and is interested in having it screened this fall at SCC, please reach out to me.

This year will run quite a bit differently than past years, if we can get it off the ground, but I am excited for us to try. I look forward to hearing from you!
