Wednesday began with sun but ended with clouds. Thursday begins with clouds and ends with rain.

But it’ll be a mild day with temperature near or a little above the 54-degrees Portland hit Wednesday.

Showers continue Friday for another wet day. But we dry out for the weekend

Saturday and Sunday will be partly sunny with highs in the upper 40s.
A little light rain may fall Sunday night as a weak disturbance pushes onshore.

But a strong and much colder system drops into the Northwest Monday night. By Tuesday morning, snow will fall all the way down to sea level.

But snow amounts will be minor below about 500 feet. In the hills above that elevation and on up into the Cascades and Coast Range, several inches will accumulate.

We should dry out Wednesday, but highs will stay in the low 40s for day or two.

Typical Valley Winter… cold and rainy

Light rain moves through western Oregon and Washington tonight. East winds will be increasing.

But the rain won’t be heavy, and temperatures stay above freezing all night. And all week.

We’ll see a series of storms bring varying amounts of rain every day, but none of it will be heavy in northwest Oregon. Heavy rain will hit southern Oregon and California.

East winds will be strong however, in and near the Gorge. Gusts will reach 60 mph in the western Gorge Wednesday.

Look for showers and sunbreaks Thursday, followed by steady rain again late Friday.

The weekend brings rain and more east winds.

In the Cascades, a few inches of snow will fall each day this week above 3,000 feet. The weekend brings slightly heavier totals, with 4 to 8 inches of snow falling on Mt Hood over the weekend.

Large swells will batter the Oregon coast this week, reaching 30-35 feet south of Cape Blanco on the southern Oregon coast.

A Corvallis man was found dead Sunday in a remote area of Mary’s Peak nearly two weeks after he was reported as missing.According to Corvallis Police, volunteer
