Europe should be prepared for the reception of a mass of refugees from the Unitrd States if Trump takes power
He is insane and worse are his supporters who are insanely aiding and betting this effort. Do not assume that he and his Fourth Reich people will wait for the results of the election to try to seize power. This time they will likely storm the poorly defended White House and even take Biden prisoner. That's what tyrants do in staging a coup d'etat. Don't think they are capable of this? Well, we didn't believe this crazy so*******ch would lead a storming of the Capital in an attempt to overturn the results of a legal election either. We are dealing with an aging lunatic who has snorted Adderrall crushed in a spoon all his adult life, but again it is not him that we should fear, since he has a short physical shelf life, it is the corrupt morally debased people behind him, the super rich for whom money is blood.

(To Jonell Galloway, you were right to open up this grave political situation on your pages, The Rambling Epicure and Culinary Travel by Jonell Galloway.

If something isn't done to stop these Hitlerian wannabes, many us will be contributing recipes to concentration camp cookbooks way sooner than we think.)

Former President Donald Trump on Monday posted a video on his social media platform that uses a language that appears to mirror that of N**i Germany, suggesting there will be a "Unified Reich" if he wins the 2024 election. The video then predicts an economic boom, tax cuts, border security and depor...

Pamplona, July 1973 my old friend from Peña Anaitasuna José Ramón Jorajurría, Gerry Dawes and Juanito Quintana, who was the inspiration for Montoya in Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises. This photo was taken by Diana Valenti Dawes after lunch at José Ramón's and his wife Paquita's apartment. Paquita was Juanito Quintana's niece. This was the last lunch he ever had in his beloved Pamplona during los sanfermines. Later that afternoon, Juanito was not feeling well and went to the hospital. He died in the winter of 1973-1974.

Who pays? The Simpsons Mike Reiss's take in a podcast on what it is like for a certified cheapsake to tour Spain with me! Somehow he conned me into coming to his home recording studio in Manhattan to record the voice overs that make fun of Southern Illinois accents, specifically mine. His claim in this podcast that his buddy Bob Oldenkirk, who is best known for his role as the unscrupulous lawyer Saul Goodman on the Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul, is from Southern Illinois and he doesn't talk like I do is what Mike himself admits is bogus. Oldenkirk is from Naperville near Chicago, which is some 350 miles north of where I was born and raisied in Southern Illinois, which is below the Mason-Dixon line. Oldenkirk did go to my alma part-timer Southern Illinois University, where the mighty Saluki dogs reign supreme and delivered Walter Frazier to the New York Knicks, when they used to put a basketball team out on the floor on a regular basis.

Any lawyers out there who will work pro bono? I think we might have a litigation opportunity here. Reiss is reportedly worth gadzillions after 33 years of profits from writing for, producing and creating characters for The Simpsons (I accuse him of being the model for Homer). Half of his money would be good. Ameliorating factors are: He plugs my book Sunset in a Glass: Adventures of a Food and Wine Road Warrior in Spain Volume I Enhanced Photography Edition at the end and under extreme duress he paid my expenses for the privilege of touring northern Spain with a food and wine road warrior who is a 50-year veteran in leading such trips for real money, not just expenses. I get paid to do these trips, so Mike went pro bono and is only a half of a Pay pal, make that a quarter of a Pay pal.

Mike Reiss has been writing for The Simpsons for three decades. In his spare time, he’s visited 134 countries, including Iran, Iraq, North Korea, and the North Pole. Hear all about it in this very funny and reasonably true podcast.

"And, a photo of the great wine and food commentator, Gerry Dawes, at Alimentaria 2010. He's discoursing on Asturian cheeses (I was invited by the Asturians to speak on their cheeses)."

Photo and comment by the very great author of books on Spanish cuisine, my very long time dear friend Janet Mendel.

Janet and I first went to Albert Raurich's then new Dos Palillos and now, seven years later, Kay and I went Friday night to Raurich's new Dos Pebrots (and ran into Anthony Bourdain, Albert Adrià and Raurich´s Ibérico pig t**s, tetas de cerdo, more or less in that order). Raurich's recipe's at Dos Pebrots are inspired by recipes he has researched as far back as the ancient Egyptians, Romans (a terrific tabletop-made pan omelet with pine nuts, fresh perifollo (chervil) sprigs, the very ancient fermented fish sauce garum; too civilized garum IMHO) that is a star dish and a wonderful Bacchus god epoch derived dish, guisantes con jamón, wonderful tender young pea dish with a broth of Ibérico ham and the yolk of a farmhouse egg as a sauce.
