Our Story
Savoir-Faire Magazine is a publication that highlights the positive things going on in the world and in your local community for more than 20 years. Savoir-Faire Magazine was founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1997 by Daphney Grier, who was inspired by a historic, African-American newspaper man, and golfer named Grover C. Crayton from the Call & Post Newspaper in Cleveland where she began her career in Journalism and Photography. The purpose of the magazine was to circumvent the high cost of advertising that local businesses were experiencing. This was before the internet was prominent. Businesses, at the time, were forced to pay high advertising rates that only national advertisers could afford. With a background in Computer Science and a Journalism Degree, Daphney began Savoir-Faire Magazine to help businesses to become a economic force, not only in Ohio, but North Carolina, and New York. She also wanted to highlight African-Americans and other minorities in a positive light, as she felt that people of color were not being portrayed in the manner they should. She sought to change the negative image of minorities and instead show what she saw through her eyes, which were talented, hard-working, professionals.
Savoir-Faire Magazine produces both national and local media such as newspapers, magazines, special events like business expos, trade shows and talent shows. Savoir-Faire Magazine brings to the forefront small and minority entrepreneurs, businesses, inventors, singers, rappers, dancers, musicians, models, and other talented people from all over the world.
Savoir-Faire Magazine has an interesting editorial format. The magazine covers a wide array of topics from health, beauty, music, education, fashion and entrepreneurs especially. The magazine has won many awards for its editorial content. We highlight different writers in the publication regularly also.
The national edition of the magazine is currently available at Walgreen's stores and other supermarkets throughout the U.S. Hard copies can be purchased on the website. Digital subscriptions are also available.
