Neil's primary ministry has been to lecture at the Bachelor level: Bible, Theology, and Ministry courses at Discipleship College, a 17-acre campus located in Eldoret, Kenya. The student body is comprised of mostly Kenyans. Ministers from other African countries where the Church of God is located are also studying (Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan, Tanzania, Burundi, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana). The opportunity to spend quality time helping form his students' "theological/ministry world-view" is Neil's greatest joy and definitely the focus of his calling. Eagles' Wings Gospel Team:
The Lawrences have been involved in Evangelism and Worship through music with the team they formed in 1996. This ministry partnered with a local congregation to proclaim the Gospel in the open-air. Students and graduates of Discipleship College have been members of the Team. From 1996 to 2021 they ministered in 184 Gospel meetings all over Kenya and parts of Uganda. These meetings were 3 to 7 days long with venues in market places, town centers, road-side centers, slums, and villages. Eagles' Wings Studio:
The Studio was created to minister through recorded music and video. The audio studio, formed in 2008, enabled the Team members to produce their own and other Christian artists' Gospel music. The video studio has been the main location for the production of A Higher Place TV program. A Higher Place is a half-hour teaching/preaching program being broadcast on Kenyan television to millions of viewers each week since November 2015. In 2019 the broadcast range was expanded to include: Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Mauritius. In 2021 Neil signed a contract with BHB to continue broadcasting A Higher Place episodes through 2024 in Kenya. Apologetics Focus:
Neil has been doing self-study of Christian Apologetics and Islam since 2007. He plans to begin a Doctorate degree in Apologetics in 2022. This will better prepare him to teach and speak at other COG Bible schools, churches, & conventions —wherever the Lord opens a door around the world in their new assignment as:
International Missionary Educator/Evangelist.

My First Encounters with Islam
My wife Jennifer and I are called by the Lord to be missionaries. We ministered in Kenya, East Africa from 1993 to 2022. We started by doing district ministry seminars, which led to founding an East African regional bachelor level Bible School. Another ministry which grew out of our district ministry was doing open air Gospel meetings.
Over a 25 year period we did more than 184 Crusades with our Eagles’ Wings Gospel Team. These meetings were organized by a local church or district, who we would partner with to finance and do the evangelism. The local church always benefited from recognition in the community by them being known by the locals as a “spiritual” church. Plus they would get increased membership. Over the years we saw thousands saved and hundreds join a local congregation.
We traveled 16 hours in our Gospel “Chariot” (truck) to do a Gospel Crusade in Frere Town, Mombasa, Kenya on the East African coast (2-5 August 2007). It’s called Frere (Free) Town because that’s where the Christian missionaries would settle the slaves taken from Islamic slave traders while the British Empire sought to stamp out the slave trade. We have a church there.
While we were doing our typical 7-hour Crusade equipment set-up, a group of Islamic preachers were set up across the main coast two-lane highway from the school ground where our meeting venue was. The entire time we were doing the Crusade, they were also preaching with a very noisy pair of horn speakers. They were not preaching: about Islam, about Muhammad, nor about the Quran. Instead, they were preaching: against Christianity, against Jesus, and against the Bible.
As soon as we flipped on the switch of our 26,000-watt Line-array digital sound system, our crystal clear praise and preaching totally drowned out their rough little horn-speaker sound. We powerfully boomed the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the whole town to hear.
On Sunday, when we closed the meeting, we flipped the power off. Then we could hear the Muslim preachers continuing to howl against Jesus, the Bible, and Christianity. Since then I’ve learned in my Apologetic studies of Islam, that all over the world Muslim preachers don’t preach about Islam, but against Christianity.
On the last day of the meeting on Sunday, as I made the altar call only a few people came forward. Then as we did our final praise before closing the meeting, I saw church ushers praying for a Muslim man kneeling in the altar. Later the ushers told me his story.
As I was preaching the Muslim man walked past the Crusade ground. He got in a bus and traveled 8 kilometers North to an estate called Bombolulu. He could still hear me preaching, since our speakers were very powerful. The Holy Spirit was convicting him and told him to “go back to that meeting and give your heart to Jesus.” He paid another fare, returned and knelt down for salvation as the meeting closed. “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”
