Join us on April 5, 2025, for our 14th Annual Conference featuring Amazon Bestselling Author Christine Gunderson. We are very excited to bring you a selection of a dozen workshops and a wonderful keynote speaker at this year’s conference. The conference will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Hamilton, New Jersey once again. Registration is now open and if you’re interested in attending, we encourage you to register as early as possible. The early morning social media workshop will have hands-on elements and because of that, attendance at that two-hour special workshop will be limited to the first fifty (50) attendees. We are getting close to that number so please don't hesitate if you want to learn the secrets to what may make your social media get more engagement!

For more information on this year’s wonderful keynote speaker, Amazon bestselling author Christine Gunderson, and our workshop presenters, please visit http://www.lsfwriters.com. Reviewing proofs right now but I will have a new project out to authors via KDP focusing in on learning about the submission process. My "killer BETA reader" loved it. Can't wait to share. Just one more pass through on the proof.

Authors - Don't just throw darts and hope for the best. I get so many submissions, especially on Query Manager, where authors are just throwing the next project out to every editor and agent who is open to submissions. I honestly think they believe that "one of these times" someone will just sign them. To truly find an agent or editor who you might have a chance with requires doing your research and really demonstrating how your story is exactly what that person is looking for.

Do your research. Take the time.

Almost all caught up on submissions. Query manager IS caught up. I just have a couple of requested projects to read through. This is what holiday breaks are for - to get caught up on work!

02/01/2025

Just a reminder to writing chapters and organizations. I am available to judge contests, guest blog, visit your chapters and certainly to attend your conferences. All you have to do is ask. I do not invite myself.
Here are some other perks...
I do not charge speaking fees.
I ask for assistance with transportation and hotel (if it is outside of the Pacific Northwest area.
When I am at your conference, use me from sunrise to sundown! I will teach multiple sessions, I will set on panels, I will keynote, I will listen to pitches. Don't waste your time and money for me to just come and listen to pitches for 2 hours.
Let me know what you want me to teach workshops on. We can work together.

Quiet around the house. Daughter is out with some last minute shopping, wife is at the gym, dogs are asleep, roast chicken is in the oven for the Chicken Noodle Soup for Xmas evening... what better thing to do? Get caught up on submissions. All Query Manager has been answered. All new submissions directly to the agency have been answered. I do have requested stories on my Kindle and will get to those shortly.

Have a great holiday season!!!!!!

24/12/2024

Wishing all of you the happiest of holiday seasons. For all of you authors, make sure to thank your families for giving you chance to pursue your craft!

Talking a bit about submissions today, especially around the holiday season

14/12/2024

For those of you who are waiting to hear back from editors and agents, please remember that as we approach the holidays, many are scrambling to take care of their own client's work before taking off. New submissions will likely not be answered until after the start of the new year. I know the editors of my clients have been saying they want to "get this to you before I take off for holiday." No worries, they will get to things, it just may be a while.

Submission update! All requested submissions have been read and answered. Those of you on Query Manager, just a heads up. They are down for servicing so I will not be getting to those for a while. For those of you who have sent me a project directly to the agency, I will be getting to those this weekend. Maybe today depending on how focused I am to sit on the computer!

Just wrapped up the edits on the project I am working on! This is my writing! Can't wait to share. The read through from one of my friends said she totally loved it. Go me!

24/11/2024

I have been seeing a bunch of posts lately by romance and women's fiction authors who are apparently "stuck in the past." No, it is not the quality of their writing. All they can do is bring up "issues" from the RWA. Maybe, just maybe if we quit dwelling on the past, this genre can even more amazing things.

23/11/2024

It will be a busy day at the computer. Reading submissions, answering submissions, working with writers, following up on recent submissions to editors and working on my own project. It is a good thing my dog woke me up at 4 am this wonderful (very dark Saturday). Getting a lot done so far, including a new proposal to a great conference for a workshop on DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING and a proposal for a keynote on OVERCOMING ROADBLOCKS, FRUSTRATIONS AND REJECTIONS IN YOUR WRITING CAREER.
