My Motto is: PLAN WELL TO HAVE THE FREEDOM TO THROW THINGS OUT THE WINDOW WHEN IDEAS HAPPEN IN THE RUSH OF THE MOMENT. I see things in a more organic way, where the full and detailed preparation of a production leads each part of the cast and crew to develop ideas that can be added to the final product, making it unique. That is my approach on every stage of the production, from the moment I write a script, to the moment I direct, and very well into the edition.

I was lucky that Mireya Kilmon agreed to participate in my films "Clovis", "Interview with Marilyn", "Love Distance" and an upcoming film I'm working on right now. But she also participated in commercials and this projects I had in 2017 called DWNTWNR, where she agreed to be interviewed in one of her most beloved dresses, from the times she was crowned a Queen.
I leave you with this "moment in time" that will live forever.

She was in all the red carpets in Florida, always promoting a film, or supporting a friend or colleague. When something like this happens, you feel like it is the end of an era.
She leaves us with memories of her as a beautiful person, her wonderful family who loved her, and her distinctive performances in film and television which will keep her alive.
RIP Mireya.

Not to brag, but composer María del Sol has just gotten another recognition for composing the original music for our film INTERVIEW WITH MARILYN. This was at the Atlantic Bridge Film Festival in The Netherlands.
Happy to share this with everybody involved in our film and our friends and relatives.
Well done to all the artists and professionals involved in the Soundtrack: Gilberto Ferrer, Adolfo Herrera, Elvis Martinez, Anthony Perez, Francisco Quintero, Rebecca Longtemps, Victor Romero, Aurelina Romero, Luis Vivas and Ronald Guerra, and specially to our Composer, the impressively talented María del Sol who created the musical soul for our film.

After finishing INTERVIEW WITH MARILYN, Covid19 hit the world and suddenly we were all isolated, and millions succumbed to this new and surprising illness. A new kind of film was created during those times: the Pandemic Genre, in which people made their films in total isolation, producing, rehearsing, directing and post producing via zoom and sending to web festivals and other platforms. I produced LOVE DISTANCE, a film about the impossibility to fix during isolation, the sentiments that were broken way before. This short gave us some recognitions worldwide, specially to the wonderful cast, who also shot their scenes in their own houses.
I thought there were a lot of stories to tell, so I created a mini-series, or a "specialty" series as they call it.
Here are the first 5 episodes of DAYS OF DISTANCING, in which five unconnected women, in the security and isolation of their own homes, strip their inner feelings to an invisible viewer, opening a whole new world.
I had the chance to work with five excellent actresses who rose to the challenge: Karen Climate, Angela del Salto, Sharon Pfeiffer, Adela Romero and Ike Santamaría.
Here is the Poster for the Series.

As troublesome as it is, the Golden Globes have always guided the road to the Oscars, which ends the Award season. I've always thought this award is just a way of kissing asses from the international critics association, instead of actually being a "critics' choice which should always go for quality and depth rather than Glitz and Celebrity (that responsibility has now been bestowed to the Independent Spirit Awards), but well, they have bring money somehow and nothing attracts celebrities more than an award ceremony. Thank to its splitting of Comedy and Drama, they give 10 possibilities for film, actor, actress, and supporting actors, which means more attendance, but still have one for director, cinematography and screenplay, which are less interesting for the audiences. Here's this year's list for better or worse.

Nominations for the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced on Monday (December 12) morning. Winners will be revealed a month later on Tuesday, January 12. NBC will broadcast this ceremony l…

Every year we celebrate those who were lucky to get a nomination, but we also remember those whose work was as timeless, strong and indelible, which always reminds us of the imperfection of Awards as they aim at entertain and monetize rather than actually recognize. I, personally, miss the two snubs for Best Director mentioned in this article, which, to me, did an outstanding artistic and powerful work: Todd Field for Tár and Sarah Polley for Women Talking, and I would add Alejandro González Iñarritu for Bardo.

The 2023 Golden Globes nominations were announced on Monday morning (December 12), leaving several projected heavy-hitters for the upcoming Oscars off the slate. The most notable rejection was & #82…

Irene Cara sang two songs for Alan Parker in the film "Fame", and acted in it. Three years later she was asked to help with the Lyrics to another film: "Flashdance".

This song proved to be her highest success, witj several awards and rocketed sells of the soundtrack and her own album released later, but she had the feeling of being cheated by her record company. In 1985 Cara filed a lawsuit against Al Coury Inc. and Network Records seeking $10 million in punitive and approximately $2 million in compensatory damages, claiming, among other things, that Coury withheld $2 million in composing and recording deals involving "Flashdance... What a Feeling". Coury initiated a smear campaign to ruin her career warning the other record labels of her lawsuit so that no one would sign her and that people who once welcomed her—from producers and casting agents to the staff at restaurants and other favorite establishments around Los Angeles—now wanted nothing to do with her. There was even talk that her career had been destroyed by drug addiction.

In 1993 a Los Angeles County Superior Court awarded her $1.5 million for misaccounted funds. No case was allowed to be made for punitive damages, however, actually getting the money was more complicated: "Because only the corporations [Al Coury Inc. and Network Records] were sued back in the beginning and not the individuals, the corporations just declared bankruptcy; supposedly they used all the money to pay attorneys… Irene was vindicated by the jury, but the legal system kind of fell down, and there was no way to compensate her. She did, however, begin earning royalties for her Network recordings almost a decade after her last chart hit in 1984.

Irene Cara passed away on November 25, 2022, at the age of 63.
