This might come as a surprise, but I actually made the song The Hitmaker 10 years ago! Back then, I invited the Nigerian rapper Ayó da Poet ( ) to collaborate on the track. He accepted, and in no time, he showed up to record his part. It’s entirely my fault that it took so long to release! Today, Ayó has transitioned into a career in medicine, where he’s thriving as a respected surgeon in his community. The album I’m holding here is his debut—and so far, only—record. Fortunately, it’s still available on Spotify and other major streaming platforms. I highly recommend checking it out.

No Dejo Caer surpassed 1k streams on Spotify yesterday, and I'm over the moon with all the love our music is receiving. This track, a fusion of Afro-Cuban jazz with hip-hop and modern beats, blends Spanish canción and guitar with African rhythms, a significant influence on Latin American music. Creating this track with and was one of the most satisfying experiences in my music-making endeavors. A huge thank you to everyone who has listened, shared, and connected with the message of our music!

In addition to my work as a sample-based music producer, I also play the guitar. This skill plays an important role in my creative process. The blend of live instrumentation and sampling truly drives my passion for creating my beats. There's a therapeutic sense to playing an instrument, and I highly recommend this to anyone.

This album, a cornerstone in the Ethio-jazz genre, draws a beautiful parallel to my latest release "Back to Ethiopia," reflecting a shared journey through the rich landscapes of Ethiopian music. Both works celebrate the fusion of traditional Ethiopian sounds with modern influences, showcasing the timeless allure of Ethio-jazz.

I've chosen to reimagine their album cover of "Más Profundo," accompanied by their hypnotic track "Plantas Falsas." The artwork reflects a step beyond the present, fusing the organic and the digital — a futuristic interpretation of their '70s funk and modern electronica blend.

Mulatu Astatke ( ), often described as the father of Ethio-jazz, is a hero of mine, whose powers span over half a century, shaping not just Ethiopian music but influencing sounds across the globe. His journey, from the classrooms of London's Trinity College to the jazz-filled nights of New York City, has been nothing short of heroic. There he fused jazz with traditional Ethiopian melodies, and helped shape one of the most unique fusions of all times (in my humble opinion). Fast forward to today, and he is still flying high, his wisdom guiding new generations, reminding us that heroes age, but their legacies are immortal.

I'm lucky to have talented friends participate in my music, and Yuri Villar ( ) is one of the most active contributors to my project. We're longtime friends, and he recorded a baritone saxophone solo in my latest release, Back to Ethiopia. Yuri is a multi-talented saxophonist, flautist, composer, and music arranger with over 20 years of rich experience in the music industry. His career has seen him perform in acclaimed musical groups and arrange music for award-winning films, highlighting his wide range of skills. I cannot express enough gratitude for having him share his creativity with me, and I can't wait to have him on board again for other pieces. More to come!

I'm back from Korea, and it feels like I've returned from more than just a vacation. This trip was a bridge to deeper connections with the love of my life, born in that vibrant land. As I resume my daily life, I'm constantly reminded of this experience that's changed me in ways I'm still discovering. I'll definitely miss this place.

In this series of posts, I seek out images tied to artists like and then use AI to recreate these visuals. The first image is my recreation, and the second is an original album cover by Cut Chemist. "The Garden," from the album The Audience Is Listening, blends hip-hop and Brazilian sounds, underscored by a deep lyrical narrative about living a life of integrity and love. In this piece, Cut Chemist masterfully samples Astrud Gilberto's () performance of "Berimbau," a true classic in Brazilian culture. Released in 2006, Cut Chemist's track stands out for its innovative mix of genres.

The Afro-rock movement, a genre that emerged in the late 1960s and 1970s, particularly in Nigeria and Ghana, is definitely one of the best fusions with rock I've heard. In the active scene of Nigeria's 70s rock revolution, The Hygrades stood out with their electrifying guitar riffs and undeniable energy. The track "In the Jungle" from the album "Keep on Moving" is a favorite of mine.
