On Monday, March 18, 2024, the Lakeview Local Schools Board of Education hired Mrs. Ashley Handrych as the superintendent beginning the 2024-2025 school year.

She brings a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted connection to Lakeview Local Schools as the incoming superintendent. With eighteen years of dedicated service in the field of education, Mrs. Handrych has honed her skills as a special education teacher, an elementary school counselor, Director of Federal Programs, Director of Food Services, and a building principal at Lakeview Middle School. A member of the Ohio Middle Level Association and the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators, Mrs. Handrych is dedicated to the latest educational trends and practices that promote student success and well-being. Board of Education president, Mark Harper, announced, “The Board is unanimous in its support of Mrs. Handrych. Her commitment to Lakeview Schools is unwavering, and her vision for the future is exciting.”

A proud Lakeview graduate, Mrs. Handrych embodies both spirit and passion for the community and is a fierce advocate for public education and our schools. Her journey from student to superintendent is a testament to her commitment to lifelong learning and her unwavering dedication to serving the needs of students and families. Her experiences in the district have equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our schools.

Mrs. Handrych is known for her collaborative leadership style which fosters a culture of teamwork and innovation. She believes in empowering educators and families to work together to create a supportive and enriching learning environment. As our new superintendent, Mrs. Handrych is committed to building upon the district’s rich legacy of academic excellence and fostering communication and involvement with Bazetta and Cortland communities. She looks forward to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that our students thrive throughout their time at Lakeview and beyond. Above all else, Mrs. Handrych believes that every day is a great day to be a Bulldog.

City of Cortland Viet Nam Memorial bridge dedication held today in memory of two Lakeview High School graduates, PFC Andrew Sinchak Jr., class of 1967 and SP4 Terrance Weant, class of 1965. Both were killed in Viet Nam.
