This special evening, sponsored by the Twin Beach Opioid Abuse Awareness Coalition (TBOAAC), will feature a Glow Vigil and the unveiling of the Overdose Awareness Memorial Sculpture.

The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) teamed up with Special Olympics Maryland to teach survival techniques for an active shooter scenario to Special Olympics athletes at a Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions program in Sykesville on July 17.

NRP’s training division presented its Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course as part of a “Unified Leadership opportunity,” for Special Olympics athletes and staff. The Unified Leadership model teaches instructors to value and learn from people with intellectual disabilities.

Chuang sentenced Charmaine Miesha Brown, age 45, of Lusby, Maryland, to 30 months in federal prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release for conspiracies to commit passport fraud and wire fraud, as well as bankruptcy fraud, and making a false statement in bankruptcy proceeding. Brown was also ordered to pay $128,201.22 in restitution.

The Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department 75th Anniversary Open House and Block Party even is being held this Saturday, July 27th, 2024, doors open at 2:00 p.m., live music and events go until 9:00 p.m.

Food trucks on site will be Big Boys Tacos, Pizza Hotline, Dan D’s Catering, Kona Ice & Tom’s Coffee, and did someone say Funnel Cake??

Our event will include tours of the fire station, history displays, fire preventions and other giveaways, along with games and door prizes for the kids!

T-shirts will be for sale along with challenge coins! Photos included.

Come support our volunteers and have a fun family night out!! These events help and every dollar helps them serve our community.
