Every tool I first used is now in a museum - typewriter, film camera, hot splicer. Today's technology dictates content with rare exceptions, but that makes exceptional storytelling stand out.
Reporters do a good job of processing raw information, but you don't have to be a journalist to find that information any more. Anyone can Google it. For our profession to survive, we must become better storytellers.
Look behind the media mirror that reflects celebrity and power to find compelling tales in the shadows.
Find stories that add meaning to the chaos we journalists have to cover. Otherwise, your reporting will be like tossing darts into a fog.
