Our Story
ComputerTalk for the Pharmacist covers the intersection between technology and pharmacy management.
The idea for ComputerTalk for the Pharmacists originated with the observation that while the computer could be used to help pharmacists become more efficient, there was a distrust of the technology for lack of understanding. ComputerTalk was meant to educate pharmacists on the technology to make them more comfortable in its adoption. The publication was created as an unbiased educational source for pharmacists. Because of the relationship developed with the system vendors, since the saw the opportunity to educate and be part of the decision-making process, there was a growing concern that this industry was not being recognized as an important player in the pharmacy space. Consequently, ComputerTalk took the lead, at the urging of the system vendors, to form a trade association. This was the genesis of the American Society for Automation in Pharmacy (ASAP), which ComputerTalk still manages to this day.
