Kansei Matsuzawa, the "Tokyo Toe," has become the first-ever University of Hawaii player to be named to a Walter Camp All-America First Team.

However, the UH kicker missed out on the Lou Groza Award, the nation’s top college football kicker, which went to Oklahoma’s Tate Sandell.

UH legends WR Davone Bess (2007) and QB C**t Brennan (2006) were second-teamers. ⬇

A FLOOD WATCH has been issued for Oahu, Kauai, and Niihau that will go into effect late Saturday night. Meteorologist Drew Davis explains below what you can expect. ⬇️

FLOOD WATCH: Heavy rainfall possible over Kauai, Oahu, and Niihau on Sunday and Monday. ⛈️

[POSTED 7:15 PM ON 12/12/25]

Alright folks... Lots to talk about as we are heading into the weekend. There is so much riding on this forecast because of the Honolulu Marathon on Sunday. ⛈️🏃

A cold front is set to stall around the western half of the state on Sunday and sit over the state for... get this... 4 to 5 days.

Ahead of the arrival of the front, we are expecting breezy southerly and Kona winds, pulling up moisture and instability from the southwest of the island chain and priming the atmosphere for heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms.

Still some uncertainty on where exactly the boundary of moisture will set up, which will be crucial for where the heaviest rain will fall.

Currently, we're forecasting anywhere between 2-3 inches of rainfall on Kauai. Oahu could see rain accumulation closet to 1-2 inches. Rainfall totals in the mountains, of course, could be much higher.

The thunderstorm chance remains relatively isolated, but not out of the picture. With the moisture and instability present in the atmosphere, the best chance for thunderstorm development remains over Kauai and Oahu.

Folks, let's talk timing. ⏱️

LATE SATURDAY NIGHT: Pre-frontal rainfall and showers will build in over Kauai. This rainfall will be rather scattered and the flooding threat will be low, but not completely out of the picture.

EARLY SUNDAY MORNING: Heavier showers start to move over Kauai and Oahu, potentially impacting the Honolulu Marathon. The start of the race could start out relatively dry depending on how fast the frontal boundary moves to down to Oahu. Isolated thunderstorms could be in the mix, leading to heavier downpours and stronger wind gusts.

SUNDAY MIDDAY: Showers continue for both Kauai and Oahu. Rain is expected to shift closer to Oahu during this time. Heavier rainfall is expected for Oahu at this time.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON: Some weather models are hinting at a slight break in the rainfall during the afternoon and early evening, with the heaviest rain staying just offshore.

SUNDAY NIGHT: The unfortunate thing about this front is that it is expected to stall, and then re-intensify in the overnight. This is all happening due to the development of a surface low-pressure system off to the northwest of the state and upper-level support from strong winds aloft.

MONDAY MORNING: Heavy rainfall continues through Monday morning, potentially dropping the most rainfall during this period.

MONDAY EVENING: Rain will start to dissipate as the upper-level winds depart the atmosphere directly over the island chain. Lingering showers are expected, but the heaviest rainfall looks to be on its way out.

Again, this is a very dynamic weather forecast. Lots could change in the next 24-48 hours. I'll continue to update everyone on my social media platforms throughout the next few days.

Oh, and one more thing... and this is rather unfortunate. 🚨

The National Weather Service doppler radar on Molokai is currently out of service and will remain that way through all of December. This means that we will not have access to the crucial radar data during the heavy rain and storms.

The National Weather Service is asking the public to help out. You can assist the meteorologists at the NWS by downloading the "MPING" weather app. This app allows you to send in reports directly to their team, meaning that they won't be completely blind during the storm.

Okay. That's about it. More updates on the way. Mahalo for reading and aloha. 🤙

FIRST ALERT: The National Weather Service just issued a FLOOD WATCH for Kauai, Oahu, and Niihau due to the approaching front. ⛈️

This will be in effect from late Saturday night through late Monday night.

Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff.

Make sure to stay weather aware over the next several days.
