What happens at soundcheck doesn’t stay at soundcheck!
I and a few WEXT Radio and WMHT Public Media donors had the pleasure of attending the Pre-Show Soundcheck with Joe Bonamassa at the Palace Theater in Albany.
Joe brought his 10 piece band which includes Rock-N-Roll HOF keyboardist Reese Wynans. Watch Joe tease Reese Wynans!!!
8/27/24 THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED FOR THIS SPECIAL EXPERIENCE. IT WAS NICE MEETING EVERYONE!
Thanks to everyone who attended WEXT Radio's 17th birthday party/BLUES BBQ at Music Haven Concert Series on Aug 16th. Thanks of course to all of you who have listened and supported EXT all these years as well. You help make this radio station EXIST! Here's the headline act from our b-day BBQ the Blood Brother with their encore, a smokin' cover of Rockin' In The Free World. Enjoy!!!
Sunday Aug. 11th join WEXT Radio for Eliades Ochoa (from Buena Vista Social Club) at the Music Haven Concert Series in Schenectady's Central Park. Here's video from when Slavic Soul party played last month. Food trucks at 6pm and music at 7pm.
See you on Sunday!
Drum solos are "hit or miss" for me but I really did enjoy North Mississippi Allstars Cody Dickinson's drum solo at The Cohoes Music Hall. His shadow on the wall was a bonus!
Is there a band who has played the 518 area but you just never caught them? I finally saw The String Cheese Incident at SPAC during Outlaw Festival and I didn't know what to expect but they were incredible. Some ppl said they stole the show. They sure did put on a fun show start to finish!
Did you see Bob Weir at Outlaw Music Festival at SPAC???
It's a Tie-Dye Wednesday at WEXT Radio and I'm celebrating by posting a video of Bob Weir & Wolf Bros. at Outlaw Festival. Grab your deadhead friends and join us for the Grateful Dead hour at its' NEW TIME of Wed. at 9pm followed by the World Cafe at 10pm.
Here's a bit of Willie Nelson performing "On The Road Again" at SPAC Outlaw Festival on 9/15/23
(music trivia fans-visit my Twitter page for a quiz regarding this song and where it was written)
Have you heard of an instrument called the kora? I'll admit to never knowing about it. It's a 21 string instrument from West Africa, that dates back to a 13th-century empire and for hundreds of years only men were taught how to play it. Watch groundbreaking performer Sona Jobarteh. She is the first woman to master the kora and she graced the stage this year at the Music Haven Concert Series. This was such a special show!
What is it about hearing an accordion?
It just makes you HAPPY right? Here's a clip of Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole at the Music Haven Concert Series in Schenectady's Central Park. BTW-I hope you are VERY happy!
Guitarist Maria Zemantauski playing a Music Haven Concert Series indoor rain site show a few weeks ago. Maria.Z.Guitar
plays so beautifully doesn't she?
Hey wait! No sharp suit and shades? It must be Joe Bonamassa's soundcheck at Bethel Woods this past weekend. Thanks also to everyone who generously donated to WEXT Radio for tickets/show sound-check. The night ROCKED!
