Southeast Alaska-grown producer Patrick Troll, aka DJ AlterNative, is bidding a fond farewell to the BurgerChurch Sessions.

Troll debuted the BurgerChurch Sessions in 2016, sharing his independently produced beats under the moniker DJ AlterNative (note: Troll is non-Indigenous). The show first aired on KXLL in Juneau, and eventually expanded to stations around southeast and southcentral Alaska. From his home in Seattle, Troll’s dedication to producing the BurgerChurch Sessions brought to the Alaskan airwaves a homemade, weekly hour of original beats celebrating music in all its forms, from soul, funk, R&B, and Afrobeat, to reggaeton to indie pop and punk to experimental sounds.

Follow to keep up with recording projects from this talented music artist.

Artist, animator, and dj Battlefunk visits from Miami to co-host the sixth—and Alaska’s first—Shaktiville with Juneau’s Dita Devi

The creative partners formed Shaktiville in Miami six years ago as a space of inspiration for artists to expand their creative practice. The name is inspired by Shakti, a Hindu goddess embodying divine energy—and a suitable alias for the creative force of miss Dita.

Shaktiville follows an open mic format, including planned performers, on-site sign up, impromptu open jams, and a cypher.

💥JNU indie pop supergroup💥


What’s that new indie pop banger bouncing all over the airwaves in Lingít nuna? It’s the new single “Starry Eyed” from Juneau’s independent recording artists 1Instinct, Leo Szn, and Paul Guapo.

Sonny Mauricio is Leo Szn, Kevin Garcia is Paul Guapo, and Shay McCormick is 1Instinct. Each has an independent recording project, and all three are unique creative forces in Juneau’s pop music circles.

The trio collaborated on the new single, and it caught fire all over JNU’s pop music airwaves because it is a legit *banger.* They have each previously released tracks on major streaming platforms.

is a music project lead by Nick Carpenter, a Nashville-via-Atlanta transplant based since 2016 in Deghay’kaq, today known as Anchorage.

Nick’s music seems to have a clarity of artistic purpose that leads to consistently honest storytelling in his lyrics, a grounded approach to creating and releasing music, and watertight circles of collaborators, like O.G. southcentral AK indie royalty James Glaves from the Kenai peninsula, and Inupiaq-Athabascan artist
 
Nick’s toured throughout the US as Medium Build, a sometimes-solo/sometimes-full band music project. Alaskan music fans are lucky Nick keeps calling our fair state home.
