Ever wanted to make and/or be in a film? Good news! July 28th-30th, my team will be participating in the 48 Hour Film Project New Haven. What does that mean?
-Friday 7pm: We get four pieces of required criteria (genre, character, line, prop)
-Friday night through Saturday morning: Brainstorm, outline, and write script
-Saturday morning through Sunday morning: Film, film, film, film
-Sunday morning through Sunday night: Edit, edit, edit.
-Sunday 7pm: Turn in completed 4-7 minute film.
This is our fifth year participating as a group. Competing against 30+ teams each year, we've been nominated for 28 awards and won 7 (including best actress, best special effects, best use of genre, and 3rd place for Best Film).
Where do you come in? Our team consists of experienced directors, editors, lighting crew, camera operators, and actors. We are a small crew always looking for extra hands. If you can lift and move heavy objects, you can help! Do you have some experience behind a camera or editing video? Even better! Most needed roles to be filled:
-Production Assistants (great for those starting out - exposure to all roles)
-Camera Assistants (great for those who know how to use a camera and want to learn how to do so on a film set)
-Editing Assistants (great for those with video editing experience who want to learn best practices from a pro).
-Sound tech (boom mic operator, audio mixer)
What's in it for you? While we're operating on virtually no budget, we feed everyone throughout the weekend, give you access to and experience using professional digital filmmaking gear, and awesome content for your reel/resume.
Why do this? Like running a Tough Mudder, maybe it's because you're crazy, maybe because you just want to see if you can do it, maybe it's to learn a whole lot under trial by fire. Is it hard work? Absolutely. Will you be proud of what you did over the weekend? Abso-F*CKING-lutely!
If you're interested, please DM me on social with your details and experience. Must be able to commit to working at least Saturday 7/29, overnight through Sunday 7/30 in the Norwalk-New Haven, CT area. Some roles are only needed Saturday, edit-related roles can be useful on just Sunday. We may not need everyone who applies, but can let you know for sure by late Friday/early Saturday.
What can you possibly make in only 48 hours? Check out our film from last year below: Redding's Block (winner Best Lighting, Best Special Effects, 3rd place Best Film). Hope to see you on set!!!
