There are few as iconic as Mr. John Cage. Without him we might have never been able to put out a silent 45 (as part of our John Cage Meets Sun Ra DVD)! He goes far beyond his famous silent work though, we actually prefer his audible stuff like our two volumes of Variations IV or his Empty Words tracks from his Sun Ra collaboration.

Happy Birthday to Tom Glazer! Tom was a long time voice of the kind of children's music that adults without kids even dig. Our favorite being 1959's Space Songs penned by the great Hy Zaret and also featuring vocals from Dottie Evans. Do yourself a favor and celebrate Tom's birthday by checking out this iconic album. I can't believe it's been this long but six years ago we offered a shirt like this paying homage to a real product that existed and truthfully had nothing to do with Sun Ra, even though the bottle was shaped like him. On this day, May 22nd, in 1914 Sun Ra arrived on our (relatively) fair planet for what ended up being a 79 year stay. We're unsure if it was a statement of how much he liked the planet Earth or if he simply felt he was needed here that badly. Since his departure on May 30th 1993, we've been enjoying the plethora of music he left us for musical study and enjoyment. Here we wait for his return. Happy arrival day.

An iconic demonic slice of Saturnian splendor, now on lime green vinyl!

Spiritual implications aside, the title might secondarily have been an inside joke: in the early 1950s, while coaching doo-wop vocal groups in Chicago, the pre-Sun Ra Sonny Blount insisted that his young protégés call him "Lucifer."

These tracks capture Ra’s electronic peregrinations during the 1970s and ‘80s. The Arkestra occasionally makes a cameo appearance but Ra commands the spotlight, not so much composing music as painting soundscapes with electronic keyboards.

This is Triple-A Ra: Audacious, Aggressive, Adventurous. These tracks capture Ra's electronic peregrinations during the 1970s and '80s.

These works also have the character of soundtracks for non-existent films. There is tension and mystery, chaos and disorientation. There are ominous crescendos, futuristic forebodings, and thematic non sequiturs. Animation, science fiction, surrealistic noir — listen to these works with your eyes shut, or in a darkened room, and imagine the action.

BLONDE ON A BUM TRIP is a frank, revealing look at the L*D generation! Instead of using the usual jazzy instrumental library music or generic elevator pop, The Vagrants, The Bit’ A Sweet, and to a much greater extent The E-Types, were recruited to propel the film's lysergic journey.

This serves as the first ever soundtrack to this film as well as a doctorate level exploration into The E-Types’ “Put The Clock Back On The Wall.” On hallucinogenic swirl vinyl!
