Congratulations to the graduates of the Dodge County Sheriff's Office Citizen’s Academy!
Throughout the past 14 weeks, they learned about traffic stops and impaired driving, use of force tactics, crash investigations, detective investigations, drug trends and Dodge County’s response to drug crimes, K9 unit, dispatch and support staff roles, jail operations and recreational patrol.

Street parking restrictions have been lifted through January 2 in the City of Hartford. Mild weather is expected through Christmas and New Year’s Day, so the Hartford Public Works and Hartford Police Department have decided to lift winter parking restrictions.

Hartford Utilities donates to Hartford Fire and Rescue for kids in crisis. Employees of Hartford Utilities recently attended an event where they created crisis kits for kids. The utility was able to bring some of the kits back to Hartford, where they were donated to the Hartford Fire and Rescue Department.

Washington County Fair Park Announces New Chief Executive Officer

Washington County’s Agriculture and Industrial Society (AIS), which operates the Washington County Fair Park and Conference Center, appointed Stacy Holland as the new Chief Executive Officer.
The announcement follows an unveiling of the organization’s new mission and strategic plan last September. Holland will officially assume the role on January 14, 2024.

Holland has a strong background in strategic growth initiatives, acquisitions, cost management and continuous
improvement and is a proven business leader with an emphasis on sales expansion and operational efficiency.
She has held leadership positions with Deloitte, Rockwell Automation, and Waukesha Bearings.

Incoming CEO Stacy Holland expressed her appreciation to the AIS Board upon selection, saying, “I enthusiastically look forward to advancing AIS’s strategic vision by increasing use of the Fair Park in ways that impactfully serve Washington County’s residents, agricultural interests, and businesses.”
AIS’s outgoing Executive Director, Kellie Boone, submitted her resignation effective December 1, 2023.

The Hartford Rotary Club and Hartford Union High School are pleased to announce that Orelle Salentine and Jordan Yu were honored recently as Rotary Students of the Month. The students were given special recognition for their accomplishments at the Hartford Rotary Club’s Thursday noon meetings during the month of November.

Orelle Salentine is the daughter of Carrie Klotzbach and Tony Salentine. Salentine is a member of the Girls Tennis Team, the National Honor Society, the Math Club, H-Club, and the
Best Buddies program at HUHS. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Math Club and Secretary of the Best Buddies program. Salentine was the recipient of the National Honor Society’s Key Award during her junior year.
Salentine has done volunteer work with community projects for Seniors during the holidays providing support and warm meals to senior citizens with limited resources. Through H-Club, she has volunteered her time at various local events as the Pink Pumpkin Run, the Erin Fun Run, the Lincoln School Fun Fair, and supply and toy drives for Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation Clinic in Oconomowoc. Through the Best Buddies program, Salentine has spent a great deal of time working with students with intellectual disabilities.
Salentine plans to attend a four-year university on a pre–PharmD tract majoring in either biology or pharmaceutical science. After completing the prerequisites, she plans to pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and a career in pharmacy.

Jordan Yu is the daughter of Michelle and Leon Yu. Yu is a member of the Varsity Gymnastics team and the Varsity Track and Field team. She was part of the sectional championship gymnastics team and competed with them at state. Yu also qualified individually
for sectionals during each year she participated in Track and Field in the triple jump. Yu is also a member of the Student Council, FFA, H-Club, the Math Team, the Environmental Club, the National Honor Society and the Pit Orchestra at HUHS. She has also received the highest score designation on all three of her WSMA instrumental solos and went on to compete at the state level with them.
Yu has been fortunate enough to participate in any community activities through service.
Some of her favorites have been delivering Valentines to local nursing homes, helping at the Shamrock Shuffle and the Pink Pumpkin Run, and decorating downtown Hartford with the
Volunteers for a Beautiful Hartford.
Yu plans to pursue a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Political Science at a Big Ten School. She would eventually like to work in Pharmaceutical research and potentially Intellectual Property Law.
