How many of us read and study these commandments only to get on with our days, having forgotten what we have read? This week, we issued the challenge to think of our neighbors' needs first, in the arena of our driving tasks. The question of when or how to have hard conversations is one that requires wisdom.
Do you agree?
As believers in Christ, we are commanded to get involved when we see a brother or sister wondering from the truth (Galatians 6:1-2; Matthew 18:15; Ephesians 4:25).
The Proverbs remind us that “a word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver” (25:11). “Better is open rebuke than hidden love.”
Some folks seem too eager to obey such commands and look for the tiniest cracks in someone else’s character.
However, far more common is hesitancy to speak at all.
It’s not really our business, we reason.
Who wants to risk making someone angry at us?
