Last day of @hwy62arttours was beyond magical! Way out in Twentynine, off-roading were we to absorb compelling art & surprise adventures with Anna Stump & Daphne Hill @hill_and_stump. Their creative collabs, displayed both within and outside their barn glowed with colorful flora & desert cacti, beautifully painted and resined now on metal, making them perfect for outdoor hanging. And, of course, those freakin’ cool collages belt buckles- hold on now Cowgirl! 🧑🎨🤠
We wandered thru @tedmeyerart paintings, tools painted and placed to feel the desert soil and toil, along with his book collection. Winded our way out to the ‘Erotic Milk Truck’ full of (say no more) paintings, collages, drawings and gouache. Ummm… wow 😳
Into the Rain Grotto, an assemblage-like cavern of found objects- catch it here! 🌈
Back on the porch, we hear a rumble of a car, look to see it pulling a… spaceship?!! Why The Jetson’s just met Buck Rogers! 🚀 Towed, and handmade from vintage fuselage, by Duncan. Check out the silver tufted interior with original flight controls!

What started as an ‘instore pickup’ in La Quinta led Alan and I to a PSPOV destination day with stops at former Coachella Music & Art Fest installs, from Coachella to Indio to La Quinta. High recs! These are some highlights, and there are many more! Here, Etherea, wire mesh sculpture, by Eduardo Tresoldi, 2018, in Coachella, with a stop for an iced doppio and spicy limonada at Coffee on Sixth, along with a peek in at the new Firehouse Café in the old fire station; Sarbalé Ke “House of Celebration”, by Kere Architecture; twisted cactus sculpture in DT Indio. Wanted to stay for the street fair tonight!
Lunch of course was the initial motive (!) and we had our palette set on Heirloom Craft Kitchen, where Chef Andie Hubka, along with a staff of La Quinta High School culinary program students, offers up creative farm to table and sea to plate dishes that are mouthwateringly tasty! Her sister concept Cork and Fork is also an exceptional find for dinner and worth the drive! 🍷🍴

SHHH! 🤫 Thank you Meta for surprising me here! But the real gratitude goes to Bank of America for this extraordinary restoration & revitalization of Rudy Baumfeld’s architectural 1959 gem that is the B of A Main Branch in Palm Springs. And the city was out to celebrate and experience the unveiling of this historic preservation!
Victor Gruen & Assoc. architectural restoration efforts are exquisite, right down to the last tile that was carefully peeled free of years of paint layers and polished back to its original gleam.
B of A put their money where their mouth is for this massive undertaking, enduring 3 years of blood, sweat and tears to create a whole new level of structurally sound engineering and a beautifully restored exterior/interior, including custom-made furnishings echoing 1959.
Gary Johns of Palm Springs Preservation Foundation walked us through the history of B of A’s strong commitment to Palm Springs, beginning in 1929 with their 1st branch on Palm Canyon.
AND the big secret’s out! Courtney Newman revealed that B of A will receive PSMODCOM’s Award for Commercial Restoration 2024 at the PS Preservation Awards this Fall!
Well done and well deserved Bank of America!
We’ll keep our money there.💰
