Life is a beautiful catastrophe.
The movements we try to control, in relation to others, become one large boulder unmovable by our own strength.
The only real strength required is that control in relation to ourselves and our relationship, and surrender.
The more we attempt to believe in the fact that we have control over things God has not placed in our realm of responsibility, the larger, harder the beautiful catastrophe becomes.
Allowing His power and substantial peace to overwhelm the attempt of natural control becomes a beautiful remedy to that thing we wish we had, which is that of control.
The reason the catastrophe is beautiful is not of our own acts, but only through the God that has given the ability to make a seeming catastrophe into something beautiful through His forgiveness and grace.
Death of ego, death of control, death of insecurities, death of failure, death of us. Life through Christ.
The beautiful catastrophe.

On this episode we are having Kris Murray as our guest. Kris is an entrepreneur in Oklahoma City that currently has a project he just started called Content Gym that concentrates on giving leaders a voice through content creation. I have known Kris personally for over a decade and we have seen some....
Once upon a time there was an ancient forest. In this ancient forest there were tens of thousands of trees and living things. On the bottom of the forest floor there was a small sprout growing out of the forest bed. The sprout was the beginning of a small tree.
The small tree felt so small being around off of these massive trees that had been around for decades. As the tree grew it started wondering what it’s purpose was. The tree knew it wanted to grow as big and tall as possible so it could be like all the other trees.
One day the tree was in deep thought and noticed the weather changing fast. As the weather changed a storm blew in. The larger trees normally took the brunt of the storms, but all the leaves had fallen for the season and there was no cover. Out of nowhere a strike of lighting came down and struck the young tree! At first all the tree could feel was pain, then it felt a burning feeling it had never felt before. The tree was on fire from the lighting strike. Fires were common to the forest, but the young tree has never been close.
As the fire burned all the young tree could do was think why me? Why did the lightning strike me? Why not any of the other trees? Am I going to ever be the same? Is this where it all ends?
Just as the tree through there was no hope, a powerful downpour came and doused the tree from it’s fire and the cool mist brought the end to the fire spreading. Even though the rain came and the damage stopped spreading the lighting strike had left it’s mark. The tree would never be the same.
Over the years the tree slowly healed from the lighting strike, however, it’s growth had ben stunned immensely. The tree lost hope of ever being one of the strong and powerful trees because of the amount of damage the fire had caused. Because it had damage it also drew insects and disease that grew on trees that were not healthy. The tree was hopeless and thought, I will never be of any value to the forest.
One day along came walking a man with an axe his hand. The tree had seen men like these before and normally they would use the axe to remove trees from the forest. The next thing the tree knew the man was standing at the base of the tree staring at it with a deep gaze. The man slowly ran his hand across the tree and especially seemed interested in the area of the lightning strike. The tree wondered why anyone would ever be interested in it.
The next thing the tree felt was a painful strike at the base of the tree. The man was using the axe to slowly cut the base of the tree. With each blow the tree trembled and thought, “this is it, this is how I die in utter shame”.
After many blows the man moved back as the tree fell to the forest ground with a thunderous BOOM. A big machine drove up to the tree and started cutting the tree into exactly measured slices. After making all the cuts the tree was hauled out of the forest far away.
The tree didn’t understand what the man could possibly want with the ugly and damaged part of itself. Once the man arrived at his destination, he slowly removed the piece of wood. The tree noticed how the man gently ran his hand across the scars of it’s grain. The tree just could not understand why anyone would want the ugliest part of the entire tree.
Through the next few weeks the man slowly removed the exterior bark of the tree, then he took small pieces of sandpaper and slowly removed the layers off of the face of the tree. He took so many pictures and took so much care of the tree and the tree just couldn’t understand why anyone wanted anything to do with it.
The very last day the man put a coating on the tree that felt like armor and then loaded the tree back onto his truck and started another long journey. The tree was so confused at this point that it started to think back over all of the years it had taken to get at this point.
The truck pulled up to a giant gate, it slowly opened. It then followed the longest driveway possible to the largest and most beautiful house imaginable. The tree was then unloaded by 10 men off of the truck and then wrapped cautiously in a soft cloth and slowly moved into the center of the most extravagant and beautiful hall in the entire world. A beautiful steel base was in place to display the piece of wood in the middle of the hall. After the cloth was removed the tree looked up and there was a GIANT mirror on the ceiling. The tree did not want to look because of how terrible the scar had been. But then, it slowly peeked, and what it saw was not anything close to what it remembered.
You see, something happens when trees get scars in the forest, it creates a beautiful and distinctive pattern that can ONLY happen through the process of injury. Because the tree had been struck by lighting the grain of the tree had grown back even stronger and more beautiful than any other tree in the forest.
The man, that had seen the tree, was the worlds most prominent craftsman that had been tasked with finding the most beautiful tree in the forest, to build the most beautiful table ever built in the world. The man picked the injured tree. Not because it was like all the other trees, not because it was symmetrical, not because it it was the tallest tree. He picked the tree because it’s wounds had made it the most unique and beautiful grain ever seen.
In life, we all go through hard times. Sometimes none of it makes sense. It’s really easy to fall into the trap of not having any self worth and not thinking we are of any value. But, the reality is that there is beauty in our scars. Greatness can come from our wounds and our hurts. The choice is ours, we can either wallow and choose to allow our scars to hurt us even more as we progress through a painful life. Or, we can choose to accept our scars and our imperfections and allow God to transform us into the beautiful being that he sees and loves unconditionally.
You are beautiful, just the way you are, NEVER forget that.
In life we have a decision on if we want to live by Faith. I believe the more faith we invest in, the more God will give us.
How brilliant was Jeff Bezos. He wanted to start an online company that sold multiple items. So, he decided to start with books because they are all around the same size so they ship easily, they all have similar price points, and book readers are some of the most passionate consumers around. He started with a niche market then expanded. Don't let your giant dreams drown by starting your swim in the middle of the ocean.
“The way to deal with it is not to wallow in the sadness of it, it’s to deal with it directly,” he continued. “That’s a hard muscle to build because it’s very easy to be taken away by a negative thing that happens and let it affect you the next day. So, you’ve got to figure out some way to build that resilience.”

Life's hard, there's no question.
It amazes me how a laughter can turn into tears, smiles can turn into hardships, moments of clarity cab be swept away by a wisp of air.
I think God has us in this place where we have moments of peace that helps us build faith for the trials ahead of us.
I know it's hard at times and we want to look back at all our mistakes or choices that lead us to this pleace. But, ultimately, we have to keep pushing forward, we have to keep our faith, and must find the silver lining in those moments of clarity to prepare us for the llan God has in store.
I had a moment today at the top of a hike to just STOP AND THINK.
We get SO busy and caught up in the business of chasing money, status, appearances, and just life that we miss opportunities to really realize what we have. I mean how awesome is it that God, legit, loves you so much that he wants a relationship with you. Like the creator of the universe loves and has a plan for YOU. Like dude how epic is that??? I am inspired to start loving more and judging less.
What keeps you going? Thanks For Watching
THE BIGGEST LEAP OF FATH IN MY LIFE JUST HAPPENED...
Last Friday was officially my last day with Swift Services.
Timing is never perfect when it comes to taking a jump, but I do believe that this was the time God had planned for me, my wife, and our future child.
We started Swift almost 8 years ago from the ground level when we had 1 carpet cleaning van and we had no idea what we were doing.
I was given an opportunity and runway to help build, in my opinion, one of the most diverse service companies in Oklahoma City. I will be forever grateful for the confidence that was entrusted to me over the years.
I am proud that Swift grew from barely scraping by to a 3 division company with 16 of the most wonderful people I have ever been able to work with.
The amazing thing about the growth over the years is, when I started, I wanted and thought everything Swift did was about ME and how I looked. I found over the years, with a lot of patience from others around me, that growth is absolutely not about 1 person but the effort of a team.
The relationships I built during my time with Swift will forever be embedded in my life and I understand why God had me there.
WHATS NEXT?
I am going to take about 2 weeks just to breath and reflect on the last 8 years of my life.
Some of you have noticed I launched a woodworking business Coined By Coury Designs doing custom luxury pieces out of renewable hardwoods. I am going to slowly build this company and see how far God takes it.
If you want to catch up or have any questions about my future plans please reach out!
In closing, I fully trust that God has closed this door to open another one that is beyond anything I could imagine.
God Bless

The key to health isn't just about food; it extends to what we consume mentally and emotionally—from music to social settings. Balancing these inputs, alongside the wisdom from Mark 7 or 8, reminds us that while what we consume shapes us, our actions and words reflect our true health.
Often, we get so absorbed in the pursuit of success that we forget to enjoy the outcomes of our efforts. This constant striving, fueled by materialism and ego, obscures true self-acceptance and understanding. It's essential to reflect on what acceptance really means and how we perceive ourselves in the journey.
To reclaim autonomy and resist harmful temptations, one must constantly engage with their desired self-image through reflection, prayer, and action. Fitness plays a crucial role in this journey by enhancing bodily control and fostering habits that align with personal goals for true flourishing.
Our neuropathways are heavily influenced by media and the distractions we encounter daily. To achieve genuine self-acceptance and avoid falling back into detrimental habits, it is crucial to be exceptionally intentional about guarding our thoughts and understanding our true goals. This self-awareness helps us resist societal pressures that push gluttony and materialism.
In America, the lack of a transcendent ideal, be it through religion or philosophy, leaves us without a clear image of what we aspire to be. This absence can lead to a life dominated by base desires, as we lack a higher purpose or 'summit' to strive towards.
Our training program combines camaraderie and competition, requiring participants to engage in weight lifting, cardio, nutrition, and time management activities. Participants earn points for their efforts, contributing to a monthly leaderboard where winners receive prizes. This structure not only motivates but also fosters accountability through weekly subgroup meetings to discuss wins, obstacles, and reflections.
This discussion emphasizes the risk of allowing intellectual activity without action, highlighting how persistent inactivity can lead to feelings of resentment and powerlessness. By encouraging a shift towards a proactive lifestyle, we can combat these negative emotions and foster a sense of empowerment and positive change.
Discussing the crucial link between intellectual insights and practical application, highlighting the transformative power of journaling. This practice helps turn abstract thoughts into concrete actions, bridging the gap between understanding and real-world application, and ultimately shaping a more actualized life.
Discussing the integration of mind, gut, and chest—representing intelligence, appetite, and will—as a holistic approach to fitness beyond physical exercise. This concept from ancient philosophy highlights the importance of balancing these elements to achieve overall well-being and effective action in daily life.
Exploring the link between philosophy, religion, and modern careers, this insight delves into how ancient philosophies like Aristotle's concept of eudaimonia—aiming for a good-spirited life—can guide personal and professional growth, emphasizing the pursuit of virtue and self-actualization.
Fitness transcends physical exercise; it's integral to a life of flourishing. Drawing from philosophy, fitness should be viewed as a component of self-discipline and control, not merely as a means to improve one's physique or health.
