Colonial Heights Police Investigate Shooting
On June 11, 2024, at approximately 11:15pm, Colonial Heights Police responded to the Bon Secours Colonial
Heights Emergency Care located at 60 East Roslyn Court for the report of an adult female who had been shot.
Upon arrival, officers located a 38- year-old female inside the facility who was being treated for an apparent
gunshot wound to her leg. A male subject, who is known to the victim and had transported her to the ER, fled the facility
on foot when law enforcement was contacted.
Investigators determined that the victim and male acquaintance were traveling in Colonial Heights and had stopped
the vehicle in the area of Boulevard and Richmond Avenue. An argument ensued between the victim and male subject.
During the argument, the male exited the vehicle and produced a firearm. At least one round was discharged from the
firearm, which struck the female victim in the leg. Those injuries are considered serious, but non-life threatening.
The male subject has been identified as Nicholas Davis, 28 years of age and a resident of Dinwiddie County, VA.
Davis is currently wanted by Colonial Heights Police for Felony Malicious Wounding, Felony Possession of a Firearm
by a Convicted Felon, Felony Use of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Felony Shooting in a Public Place and Felony
Maliciously Shooting at an Occupied Vehicle. Davis also has several outstanding warrants from Chesterfield County and
Dinwiddie County.
The Colonial Heights Police Department is asking that anyone that may have witnessed or has information about

On June 9, 2024, around 12:30pm, a Charles City County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was monitoring traffic at the intersection of John Tyler Memorial Highway (Rt. 5) and Wayside Road (Rt. 607), when an individual on a moped approached their vehicle. As the subject approached the deputies vehicle, the moped fell onto the vehicle. The deputy noticed blood on the subjects person and asked if they were ok. The subject stated that people were after him and trying to kill him. He repeatedly said that and the deputy then place him into the rear of their vehicle and called EMS for further observation. Once Charles City County Fire/EMS arrived, they transferred the subject to the rear of the ambulance. After several minutes, the deputy returned to the rear of the ambulance and that is when the subject become combative towards the deputy and struck them. After the deputy was struck, a struggled ensued between subject against law enforcement and EMS. Sgt. Floyd H. Miles, Jr. responded to assist the deputy. Upon his arrival, Sgt. Miles joined In the struggle. As a result of the struggle, Sgt. Miles suffered a medical emergency. As a result of that medical emergency, Sgt. Miles was rushed to MCV/New Kent Medical Center were he succumbed to his medical emergency. Sgt. Miles was born and raised in Charles City County, a county in which he truly loved. Upon graduating Charles City County High School he enlisted in the United States Army. Sgt. Miles returned to serve Charles City County Sheriff’s Office proudly for 16 years. He was supervisor of Patrol and Animal Control. He had true genuine passion not only for the residents of Charles City County, but all residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia. He constantly excelled in his field most recently graduating from Animal Control School. He is survived by his mother and father, wife, three stepsons, brothers, sister and grandson. The subject was transported to an area hospital for examination/observation. Virginia State Police BCI is handling the investigation.

Petersburg drug dealer sentenced for m**h, he**in distribution

RICHMOND, Va. – A Petersburg man was sentenced today to 10 years and six months in prison for possession with intent to distribute m**hamphetamine and he**in.

According to court documents, from Sept. 9, 2022, to Feb. 8, 2023, the Virginia State Police 1B Task Force conducted five controlled purchases of he**in, fentanyl, and co***ne from Richard Arthur Jones, 37. The last three of these transactions occurred at Jones’ apartment.

On Feb. 16, 2023, as the task force executed a search warrant on the apartment, Jones attempted to throw a plastic bag from his balcony. The bag became stuck in a tree, however, and was recovered by law enforcement. The bag contained a total of approximately 306.14 grams of m**h and approximately 95.56 grams of he**in. From inside the apartment, law enforcement recovered approximately 32.5 grams of a mixture of he**in and fentanyl and approximately 21.14 grams of m**hamphetamine, as well as a .40 caliber handgun in a Gucci cross-body bag.

Jones pleaded guilty on Jan. 4.
