Tabitha, the new album from Sasha Bolof, is out today on Cruisin Records.
After dropping her moniker, Stres, Sasha Bolof returns with a warm and uptempo indie rock album, blending dream pop and post punk. Rich textures and haunting melodies set the back drop for complex drum patterns and loud fuzzed out guitars. All while having lyrics about about class politics, environmentalism and trans identity.
After moving to Los Angeles she recruited drummer Casey Deitz and long time friend and collaborator, Erik Blood, to record and mix the album. The end result is Tabitha. 10 songs about everyday people that may or may not exist. And how their material conditions shape their lives and world view. Touching on themes of activism, alienation, springtime, and personal truth hidden within. Narrated by singer Andrea Zollo, playing the part of the titular character, Tabitha. From start the to finish, each songs invokes the feeling of the spring. Where flowers bloom and the possibility of new beginnings. Even if those feelings are fleeting, the listener’s left with the warmth of the sun and the song birds of May.
