This is a story about healing, loyalty, unconditional love, and the remarkable power of the human-canine bond.
For Daniel & Aaron, a dog named Diya makes a difference in their lives on a daily basis… and helped create an unlikely friendship.
As Daniel said, “I think you never know the potential that somebody has to make a difference in somebody else’s life, until you give them the chance.”
Thank you to Daniel and Aaron for having the courage to open up to me for this story. I hope it inspires others to do good!

Preston's Candies and Ice Cream has been Burlingame's spot for sweets and treats for 75 years, but over the past two years of the pandemic, business hasn't been so sweet.
The owner, Irene, is behind on a lot of bills, and realized she couldn't generate enough revenue to keep the lights on if she couldn't come up with a new recipe for business.
"I was looking at a matter of months," she said. "I'd have to close it."
But for now… that isn’t going to happen!
She and her team - along with a new friend - have been busy making ‘rescue boxes’ … in the hopes of rescuing her business - and communities near and far are responding, and are helping keep her beloved candy shop afloat.

With help from a construction crew, and a little bit from the clouds… on Saturday, Santa Clara County Fire Department firefighters were in the final stages of extinguishing a huge fire that engulfed a 72,000 sq. ft, vacant office building in Campbell.
Nobody was hurt, according to investigators.
People who live around the area were very interested to see what was going on, up close. Some took photos, others shared their bewilderment, and some couldn’t help but stare.
Cause is still under investigation, but an arson task force will be involved in the investigation, according to a deputy chief with the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

On Saturday, the NTSB gave Caltrain the all clear to remove a train that had been involved in a fiery crash from the track in San Bruno.
It was the first time we saw the train move since that crash on Thursday, where 13 people were injured.
As Caltrain worked to repair the track and remove the train on Saturday, people who took Caltrain had to use a bus bridge to get from South SF to Millbrae, which confused some people.
This piece was our 6pm coverage on Saturday.
On Sunday morning, we learned the track has been reopened.

Construction for the current fix for San Francisco’s leaning Millennium Tower was placed on pause last month… after engineers discovered the luxury high rise sunk an extra inch and tilted an extra five inches.
Now, a San Francisco Supervisor is calling for construction to stay on pause until a new independent review panel gets their eyes on the project - to find the best way to move forward.
“I would like there to be a pause until we know what we’re doing, and I think that construction should not resume until we can panel the best experts that this country has,” Supervisor Aaron Peskin said.
He says all options should be on the table…
“There may come a day when we’ve got to make the painful decision to, perhaps, dismantle that building,” he said. “Whether we’re there yet or not, this panel is going to tell us.”
