For the first time, “Hard Knocks: In Season” will feature a division: the AFC North. It will debut Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, stream on Max, and will air subsequent Tuesdays through the end of the NFL regular season and continue into the playoffs in January 2025.

“Hard Knocks: In Season with the AFC North” will document the battle for the AFC North crown during the final six weeks of the NFL season, as well as a playoff run for the division-winner and any AFC North Wild Card teams. The series will deliver its signature all-access coverage as it follows the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have never been featured on “Hard Knocks” in the history of the series. The show will also follow the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.

Longtime Steelers DT Cam Heyward hinted he might be playing for a new team next season after his contract with Pittsburgh expires. He also alluded to the possibility of joining the Cleveland Browns.

“I have talked to my wife, and we know the reality . . . she said it could be fun to play somewhere else,” Heyward said this week, to the Athletic. “If that is what is needed to be done, then so be it.”

“I still have family in Cleveland . . . my wife is from Cleveland,” Heyward said. “We will see what happens. But I can assure you this: I will be playing in 2025, I will tell you that.”

Update: Cam has cleared the air. In a recent X post he said, “The goal is to be a Steeler for the rest of my career……”

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris was present for Days 2 and 3 of mandatory minicamp, however he did not participate in practice and declined to speak to the media until training camp.

Harris was also excused from Day 1, meaning he didn’t take part in any three of the team’s mandatory practices.

It’s unclear if the absences are due to an injury or his ongoing contract situation. In May, Pittsburgh declined the 26-year-old running back’s fifth-year option.

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to pursue a trade for San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk, per a league source.

Aiyuk and the 49ers have made almost no progress on a new deal. Although San Francisco would prefer to keep Aiyuk, it’s becoming increasingly likely that the team deals him. The Steelers are the current favorites to land the 26-year-old wideout.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed CB Cameron Sutton to a one-year, $1.2 million deal.

Sutton spent six seasons in Pittsburgh before signing with the Detroit Lions in 2023. He started 17 games for the Lions, recording 65 tackles and one interception.

Sutton was released by Detroit in March after a warrant for domestic battery surfaced in Florida. Sutton was arrested and released on his own recognizance; he entered a pretrial diversion program to resolve the misdemeanor charge.

It’s still unclear if Sutton will face discipline from the NFL for his actions, but it’s possible he could be suspended to start the season.

Steelers veteran DT Cam Heyward rejoined the team to begin Week 3 of OTAs. He did not attend the first two weeks of the voluntary workouts as he seeks a contract extension this offseason.

Heyward said he plans to attend mandatory minicamp next week and the beginning of training camp in July, but would not rule out a potential “hold in.” He also added that him showing up for OTAs is not indicative of any progress in contract negotiations and that he’d like to play 3 more years.

Pittsburgh Steelers DE Cam Heyward does not plan to attend OTAs as he seeks a contract extension.

Heyward, who is entering the last year of his contract, hasn’t been attending voluntary offseason workouts and plans to continue to holdout.

The two sides have already started negotiations; an extension could also help Pittsburgh reduce Heyward’s current cap hit of $22.4 million.
