Can I talk about fate for a moment? A few months ago, I started going to Pure Poetry Live events hosted at Karma DC. The atmosphere is fantastic and if you’re ever in the DMV area, you should definitely check them out. Any who, I told myself I would get on stage and perform an original piece.

Well, last night, I made my way to the venue. I got there a little later than I intended and I was afraid I missed the chance to sign up.

As soon as I walked into the building, to my right was the bowl they pull names from at random and one last piece of paper with a pen. Almost felt that it was waiting for me. So I wrote my name down and placed it in the bowl.

The show got started shortly afterwards and they began pulling names from the bowl. I made peace with the fact that my name may not be called last night. Until it was.

Now what you see is me standing on stage preforming an original piece, “Convenience.” I planned on posting a cinematic version soon, this was too good not to share.

The legendary singer-songwriter Tina Turner has passed away at the age of 83

Tina Turner first rose to fame in the 1960s with her energetic live performances and signature style. She released a string of hit singles over the years, including “What’s Love Got to Do with It”, “Proud Mary”, and “The Best”. Her most successful album, Private Dancer, sold more than 20 million copies worldwide.

Tina Turner was an inspiration to generations of music fans, both for her immense talent and her unyielding spirit. She famously left an abusive marriage in the 1970s to forge a successful solo career, a journey that she documented in her best-selling autobiography I, Tina.

Her influence extended beyond music, as she was a passionate advocate for causes such as HIV/AIDS awareness and anti-human trafficking.

Tina Turner will be remembered as one of the most beloved and iconic performers of all time. Her songs will live on forever.

Hey, what’s up everyone,

I’m still looking to build a team for the 48-Hour Film Project on May 5 -7 2023 here in Washington, DC.

Here’s the thing, we will have to write, shoot and edit a 4-7-minute short film during that weekend. We will be giving the genre during the kickoff event on Friday, May 7 along with the required character, prop, and line to be seen in the film.
If we win best picture on the local level (and I’m looking to win), the film will go on to compete at Filmapalooza 2024 for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2024 Short Film Corner. The Cannes Film Festival!!

I have the equipment, software, and skill set to pull this off. I just need the crew. Here’s what I’m looking for:

Actors
Camera Operator (Hopefully, you have another camera).
Boom Operator
Editor
Makeup Artist
Costume designer

I’m looking to shoot locally in the DMV area.
