GLENDORA ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF OF POLICE
Glendora, CA – On April 15, 2024, City Manager Adam Raymond announced the appointment of Captain Mike Randazzo as the next Chief of Police for the City of Glendora. Captain Randazzo will replace Chief Egan, who is retiring, effective May 25, 2024. With more than 30 years of faithful and distinguished service to Glendora, Captain Randazzo brings an abundance of law enforcement and leadership experience to the post.
“Over the last 30 years, Glendora has become my home and the Police Department my family,” commented Captain Randazzo. “I am honored and excited for this opportunity to follow in the footsteps of so many great leaders from our department. I am grateful to have the continued support of our City Manager, City Council, and our community members; but most of all, the talented and dedicated men and women of the Glendora Police Department. I look forward to serving the community in the capacity of Chief of Police and working with our exceptional members of the Police Department in safeguarding our community and enhancing the quality of life for all.”
Captain Randazzo grew up in nearby West Covina, and in 1994 was hired as a Police Cadet for the Glendora Police Department while attending college. As a Police Cadet, he was assigned to Evidence and Police Dispatch before being hired as a Police Officer in 1996. While working as a Patrol Officer, Captain Randazzo also trained as a Jailer and relief Police Dispatcher. He has also worked as a narcotics detective and motor officer, fi****ms and force instructor, field training officer, operator and team leader of the Foothills Special Enforcement Team (FSET), tactical flight officer for the Foothill Air Support Team (FAST), AVOID grant supervisor, motor officer instructor, bicycle patrol officer, Force Team member, training manager, corporal, sergeant, and lieutenant. He was promoted to Captain in July 2023.
Captain Randazzo holds an Associates of Science degree in Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice. He is a graduate of the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.
“Mike understands the special relationship between this community and its police department,” noted City Manager Adam Raymond. “We’re excited to have a long serving leader in public safety take over as the next Chief of Police in Glendora. I am confident he will continue to strengthen community partnerships and enhance the quality of life for all Glendorans.”
Off duty, Captain Randazzo is an avid pilot and motorcyclist, and enjoys his time with friends and family. He is married with one son.
The Chief of Police is the highest-ranking officer in the Glendora Police Department. Appointed by the City Manager, the Chief of Police is responsible for overseeing the administration and operation of the Glendora Police Department and its approximately 104 sworn and non-sworn personnel.
Mayor Mendell Thompson expressed his congratulations on the appointment, stating “Mike Randazzo has shown a great dedication to our community through the years. His unique understanding of Glendora combined with his ability to implement effective policing policies and promote accountability, will serve him well to further enhance the safety and well-being of our community. The City Council is fully supportive of his appointment and looks forward to working with him to continue the good work of the Glendora Police Department.”
