Targeting your preferred customers on an ad platform like Facebook has typically been simple as putting in interest-metrics provided by Facebook. For example, those interested in Fitness would be targeted with a “fitness” interest.

The way Facebook has been able to group people into these interests is by collecting data on what users are doing across websites. People interested in fitness are viewing supplement websites or watching workout videos, and Facebook would know that.

Now that Facebook and other advertising platforms will NOT be able to secure cross-website data due to restrictions set by Apple and Google, targeting is bound to become less intricate.

The good news is that advertisers can still leverage data they secure themselves, but data collection will have to start with broad targeting.

One of the most powerful forms of data Facebook can provide is Video Views data based on people engaging with your company’s video content.

The reason this is so powerful is because if you are targeting broadly (say based on geographic location or age), you know that people who sit through a video about your product or service are interested.

A click requires less buy-in than sitting through a video.

This is why we are such strong believers in the Anchor Ad, an extended top-of-funnel video tailored to your target audience. If you run a 4 minute video that is purely speaking to gym-rats or yoga enthusiasts, then it is safe to assume those are the ones who are going to sit through it.

Even if that video as run against a very broad audience, you will break through to reach who you want.

Once people start watching then you can begin retargeting with more aggressive mid-to-bottom funnel content!

How do you effectively brainstorm a video that is going to sell? 🧠

It DOES NOT start with the creative. Any fun visual or creative elements should come after there is an understanding of the message that is being communicated. So, in order to come up with a Video that Sells, you want to:

1. Clarify the Goal. A good way to go about writing the goal of a video is to first identify who the audience is then clarify what you want that audience to do as a result of watching the video. We call this an ugly sentence. I.e., By watching this video, gym-goers will subscribe to our weekly newsletter for 10% off of their first purchase.

2. Identify the Customer’s Problem. What pain point can you speak to that will cause your audience to stop what they’re doing and watch your video? Then you can decide how you will position your product or service as a solution to that problem. It also helps to tackle any potential doubts they will have so you can tackle those as well.

3. LET LOOSE! Now that you have identified the underlying messaging that needs to exist in your video, you can apply creativity to make this video something that will grab the attention of your ideal audience. Come up with as many ideas as possible and don’t hold back…following a strategic sales formula, even some of the craziest ideas can be turned to gold!

Let's say you want a commercial to look and feel similar in style to the show "The Office", the Producer and Director of a production crew will work together with a Director of Photography to make that unique style of filming come to life.

The Director of Photography has the expertise to know exactly what camera, gear, personnel and equipment are needed to support handheld filming, panning shots and focus pulling on zoom ins & outs. All signature techniques from The Office.

While the director will have a great idea of what type of acting performance is needed to bring out the dry, sarcastic style of comedy from Actors.

The same goes for the lighting department, sound department, art department, ect..

Start with a vision, from there leave it to the experts and technicians to know exactly what is needed to successfully deliver that vision.

We wanted to capture the entire Kura Sushi Restaurant concept in this one shot and what it means to visit a “revolving sushi bar”

Kura Sushi’s technology, how you order and how you receive your order is what makes this place unique.

So we captured that experience the best way we could by positioning our camera on the conveyor belt facing the sushi while it travels down the belt to a customer.

With the roll out of iOS 14 at the beginning of the year, 96% of users opted out of having their data taken on apps and websites which means that data about customer interests across websites is now becoming less available.

iOS 15 is taking this a level further, allowing users to opt out of seeing any “personalized ads” in Safari and on apps. So what does this mean for businesses using digital ads to bring in leads and customers?

Simply put: we need to collect data for ourselves.

Traditionally, advertisers could depend on Facebook or Google interest-based targeting or pixel data to get in front of ideal customers. Now it seems that Ads are going to be served a bit more broadly (by age group or geographic location). So brands now need to be creative about getting people to engage with their content so that they can acquire data.

One keys for this will be good, strategic, creative content that appeals specifically to your ideal customer.

Especially video.

Video allows you to break through the noise and speak specifically to your target audience AND video views data will be a means for understanding exactly who you should be targeting with other advertising efforts.

Companies will also need to have a person or team of persons dedicated to managing their Ad Funnel, as there will now be a lot of moving parts to manage.

From collecting video views data and initiating retargeting, to creating high-level landing pages that encourage users to share their emails (another means of first-party data acquisition), to maximizing those emails to collect further customer data and ultimately move people toward a sale, it will take a focused effort to drive sales digitally in a world where third-party data seems to be disappearing…

Every year January comes along. It's a new chapter to grow as a company and an opportunity to improve your current standing and tackle bigger goals.

Have you thought about what worked and what didn't work for your business this past year? That can be in Sales, Operations, Systems, or any department but for the sake of this conversation, did you have a marketing strategy in 2021? Did it work? Did it fall short? Marketing can fall short for many reasons but the idea is to really assess where things went wrong. Generally we find the problem pointing back to a strategy with holes and chinks in the armor.

Everyone one was born to do something. Our cause is storytelling in its purest form and we focus on a non-traditional style of video storytelling for brands we believe in.

We’re alive most when we’re on set turning visions and concepts we write into film and video adaptation.

Because we’re passionate we pour our hearts into everything we do not only on the creative side but the business side. We understand that “it’s business” clients ultimately spend money on marketing to yield results and it costs money to make money for us to do what we do best.

Our ideas are not meant to fulfill personal agenda. They’re meant to fulfill what we believe will work for the brand.

What you see on this page is a lot of filming, videos we make and how we make those come to life but what you don’t see is the daily grind to yield those results through management of ads and brand upkeep.

The tweaks we make day in and day out to improve client campaign performance, designing different versions of landing pages to test, adjusting ad copy, targeting, rotating ads from one social platform to another to test and see what does better, editing new versions of videos to run again different audiences…we’re constantly doing whatever it takes, whatever necessary to get our clients tangible results to help grow their business.

It requires research, daily communication, reporting, meetings, and a plan as well as belief in us.

Every time we sit down with a client we think of creative ways to articulate their product visually so the end user feels an experience. With every business and product there’s a way to make it work.

For an architect who designs custom homes, their product is their “design service” of the home.

For context, this is the initial phase before any home is built.

So we believed it was imperative to show what one of their designs looked like up against the actual real home after it was built.

As you see the before design vs. after built are nearly identical. An argument well proved without need to justify their craftsmanship and credibility of the architectural firm and team.

Video can be powerful which is why we always strive to find the best way to show what you do vs. say what you do.
