Jesus pays with sacrifice...
God is referenced as Jehovah Jireh, my provider.
But one of the things that's interesting is when, Abraham was going to sacrifice Isaac, and then, the ram was in the thicket. And so they went and got the ram, that was the sacrifice.
The thing that was fascinating to me about that He named that mountain, the Lord will provide.
But as I was thinking about it, the thing that He needed in that moment wasn't money, wasn't anything else. He needed the sacrifice.
But then I remember, the scripture. Bob talks about a lot about pay attention to your herds and pay careful attention to your flocks because livestock was actually a form of currency.
I was thinking about that in those two different ways and how there was actually something there as the livestock being a form of currency.
But then also it being the sacrifice, which then can lead us to Jesus paying the price for our sin. There's a currency there, but also being the sacrifice for us.

God is bigger than your financial mistakes.
It doesn't matter how perfect you have been. It doesn't matter if you have made all kinds of mistakes. God is bigger than your financial mistakes and He still has a plan for your finances that is better than the enemy's plan.
I keep talking to Christians over and over again who are dealing with hard financial circumstances because of what's going on. Or, because of their past mistakes. In either way, there's so much guilt and shame associated with it.
And so many financial experts just add to the guilt and shame. Add to the, "Yeah, you screwed up. And so you need to live through this and you need to deal with this."
The truth is, God is bigger than your financial mistakes.
And we can never forget this because the enemy wants us to linger on that guilt and shame and wants us to feel like we have to deal with this ourselves. It's all on us. But God wants to set us free.
Each day, we have the choice to accept the enemy's plan for our finances or God's plan for our finances.

God is bigger than your debt...
I just wanna remind you, regardless of your financial situation, that God is bigger than your debt.
And I believe He gets a kick outta seeing his kids get their debts paid off.
That was one of the first things I realized early in our financial journey is if we can just get these credit cards paid off, we're gonna have so much extra margin in our financial life. And it's just fuel for the fire.
Because when you add all this up, it just makes you want to move forward quickly. It just lights a fire under you to be like, we have got to get rid of this stuff cuz I don't wanna be spending $7,000 a year. When, I could just pocket that or be giving it or be fulfilling this dream that I feel like God's given me.
So know that it's possible in Him. It might not be possible in your own strength, but in Him. I promise you it is not too much for God.
We've watched Him do it in our lives. We've watched Him do it in so many of our students' lives. It absolutely is possible. But it starts with you believing. And then doing these natural steps. Taking the little steps that you can while trusting and believing Him to do the miraculous in your finances.

Why God Asks Us To Give...
What I'm about to share would be the most important lesson that God has taught me which is why does he call us to give in the first place? I would offer three main reasons.
One is because he himself is ultimately generous, and we may better understand his character by reflecting that generosity back.
Second is because we grow in sanctification as we emulate the character of Jesus.
Third is, God's design for the world is that we actually get to participate alongside him in bringing forth his kingdom here on earth.
That's the answer to why God calls us to give. And when I'm able to give through that mindset, I experience Him more deeply. If I'm giving with any other mindset, I don't worship Him in joy, and I miss the mark.

The pursuit of Jesus being an idol...
One of my worst sins is I try to be like 10 percent more Christian than my neighbors. I'm not gonna buy that car I'm gonna judge them for having that car and get like one click less nice of a car and I tell myself it's because I'm stewarding wisely, but really it's because I want to, in my own heart, feel like I'm being holier than thou. Anything that God will give us to use as a blessing in our lives, the enemy will try to make it not that. Even the idea of I want to steward my money well, because we're trying to please God and the enemy comes in and is "Yeah, you're such a good Christian. Look how much better you are." And, I think that happens all the time.

God leads with red lights...
I believe that God leads a lot more with red lights than green lights. I see a lot of Christians who are waiting for a green light to come in front of them.
I think the best thing to do is to start taking steps, trying different things, moving in different directions, and wait for the Lord to shine a red light and say, Nope, this isn't it.
My walk with Jesus has been very much led like that. So that really resonates with me. And by contrast, we've seen people. who seem to be paralyzed and not moving forward because they won't try anything because they're waiting for God to say, here's what exactly what you should do.
And I feel like God's wanting us to take steps, trust that he's going to communicate if we're going in the wrong way, Yeah. And if we're submitting it to him, he will.
The only way through that is if you just bulldoze through it and I think that's why people get scared is you bulldoze through something but the other thing is just because there's opposition or things don't go as you had planned doesn't mean that it's wrong. It might just mean that you just have to work through it.

The Christian halo on the American Dream: What God will say to American Christians...
Our culture is steeped in materialism. So much so that we don't even notice it I firmly believe that when our generation is in heaven. I think God will say, "look, y'all did some great things, a billion people uplifted out of abject poverty, massive reductions in slavery and sex trafficking, many other positive kingdom movements." And I think he'll also say, "y'all committed the sin of materialism every minute of every hour of every day of your entire life, so much so that you didn't even notice it." We're so deep in it, we can't even see it.

If we lost it all - this'd be the 1st thing we'd do...
We haven't lost everything before but we've seen massive drops. I got laid off, that was a reduction of our income bar probably 60 something percent we watched our income in the business in certain phases drop by 80, 90%.
This would be one of the first practical things that we would do if you read our book, simple money, rich life in chapter six, we go through an exercise, where we walk you through creating a survival budget.
It's not a normal budget where you're trying to break things out, but it's a, "what is the absolute bare minimum that we need to survive for a temporary amount of time."
And it's really important that you have that frame in your mind of, this is for three months, six months, 12 months like there has to be an end date on it. Otherwise it gets really depressing really fast.
And the main reason isn't so that you ever have to do it, but it's more informative. cause it was very powerful for me once I discovered, we can survive.
It eliminates the ambiguity of the fear of, I don't know if I'm having enough and I don't know how it's all going to work out. Like you just get concrete and crystal clear about what is this worst case scenario-ish, that we're going to go through. If you're doing this right, it should bring relief, not panic.

All things work for your good ...
The Bible actually means what it says. That it will work out for our good. There's another verse with, John and Peter who got beat or flogged and it said they went away rejoicing for the opportunity.
And I'm like, what did they know that we don't know today? I'm thinking about me, going down the street getting mugged. And, coming back smiling so big. "Hun you're not going to believe what just happened. I'm so excited. I just got..." But they were, it literally said they were rejoicing.
The point is they knew something that I think a lot of us don't know.
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. That when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
