After 30 wonderful years, St. Peter’s Early Learning Center has closed due to declining enrollment. St. Peter's remains committed to youth programs. 🍎📚
The Early Learning Center at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church — a staple in the Baldwin community for nearly 30 years — shut down last month because it couldn’t compete with the public schools, officials said.

New trees and plants will be blooming in the spring, after the Baldwin Civic Association refilled old planters in the community, thanks to a $10,000 grant from PSEG Long Island last summer.

They are known as the dynamic duo. Abby and Miguel Melendez have used their shared experience of surviving cancer to help others struggling with the deadly illness. And it’s because of those efforts, the two are the Baldwin Herald’s Persons of the Year.
