Congratulations to OCBA member David Carl Anderson of Law Office of David C. Anderson, P.C., who was recently chosen as the 2022 Adrian College Distinguished Alumni! He will receive this award at the homecoming game on September 24, 2022.

Mr. Anderson graduated from Adrian College in 1974. After graduating from Adrian College, he served on the college's Board of Trustees, Alumni Board, was a class agent for many years, served as sponsor for the northern Michigan college reunion program, and participated on a regular basis in numerous college events. Mr. Anderson was president of the OCBA in 2015-2016. He is married to Judge Martha Anderson of the Oakland County Circuit Court.

When our City of Troy Government DPW employees needed to get vaccinated, Children's Hospital of Michigan CEO Kathy Donovan and team came through for us! Because of Kathy, our DPW Essential Workers were able to get vaccinated and keeping themselves and the residents of safe as they completed their essential work. DPW Director Kurt Bovensiep designed and created this gift for Kathy and had the pleasure to present it to her and thank her in person at last week’s State of City. Thank you, Kathy and Children’s for looking out for Troy!

On February 12, 2021 around 10:00 pm, Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a vehicle left the roadway, struck a building, and the driver was unresponsive.

Officers Grosso and Hughson were the first to arrive on scene.

Officer Grosso and Officer Hughson immediately removed the driver from the vehicle and started CPR. Officer Grosso gave chest compressions while Officer Hughson provided rescue breaths.

Alliance Paramedics arrived to continue CPR and transport the driver to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. Troy officers rode along in the ambulance to assist with rescue efforts. The patient suffered a heart attack, and with the life-saving efforts by our Troy Officers and Alliance Paramedics, was able to walk out of the hospital five days later.

The ER doctor wanted to recognize everyone involved. These first responders were awarded the Achievement in Excellence from the Oakland County Medical Control Authority. Thank you, Officers Grosso and Hughson, for your quick actions that saved a life. Congratulations on your recognition.

It was a great honor to celebrate Al Landino’s 101st birthday with Troy Fire Department Troy Mich. Chief Riesterer!

PROCLAMATION
IN RECOGNITION OF ALBERT LANDINO
ON THE OCCASION OF HIS 101st BIRTHDAY

WHEREAS, Today we gather to honor Troy resident Albert Landino on the occasion of his 101st birthday; and

WHEREAS, On May 22, 1920 Albert entered the world in Milford, Connecticut, making his parents Charlotte and Francis Landino very happy; and

WHEREAS, Albert met and married his wife Helen in September, 1941. Sweethearts, married for 70 years until Helen passed away in 2011, Albert and Helen had three children, Sandy, Bruce, and Jim. Albert is the proud grandfather of three grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Albert dedicated his life to the noble profession of firefighting. Albert served with the Bloomfield Township Fire Department starting his service as Firefighter in 1956. He worked his way up the ranks – Firefighter, Lieutenant, Fire Marshal, and finally Fire Chief for the Bloomfield Township Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Over the years Albert loved watching sports, coaching baseball, and reading – his favorite thing to do was to coach baseball. Albert moved to his new home at Anthology in March, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Albert also loves visiting regularly with all his loving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Albert is honored and respected by all for the many contributions to his family, his community and his positive outlook on life;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Council of the City of Troy congratulate Albert Landino on the occasion of his 101st birthday; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Troy City Council and all of Troy’s residents extend best wishes to Albert for many more healthy and happy years.

We enjoyed a beautiful Spring afternoon for the official ribbon cutting of Phase 2 of the at Sylvan Glen Lake Park! The City of Troy Government hosted a Kids Poster Design Contest for kids ages 5 – 12. As soon as City facilities reopen, the winning posters will be showcased at the Community Center, Library, and City Hall to welcome our patrons back. The theme of the contest was “We Are All in This Together.”

I am very proud to announce the winners and to recognize all of our talented young people that took part in the Poster Design Contest. Congratulations and thank you all for taking the time to submit your posters and sharing your creative ideas to remind everyone that we are all in this together.

Winners are Agnish Adhya, Aditya Yogesh, and Megan Hatto.

Agnish, Age 9 is a 3rd Grader at Wass Elementary School. His poster will be at the Troy Public Library.
