Excited to get back at em!
It won’t be long now, the one thing that really hooked me into this crazy career is the pursuit of waterfowl.
Its lead us to some pretty dang cool places, put some even cooler people into our lives and created even better memories that’ll last until the end of my time.
Also, I’ll be looking to fill some dates for the fall and winter. I’d love to collaborate and work with some of y’all out there. Outfitters, brands, personalities, people and etc, let’s chat!

Personally, I’ve always been the kind to appreciate quality, craftsmanship, reliability, convenience and longevity within products that help get the job done. Not just complete in time, but with efficiency, confidence and reliability for it to be done right, and done right the first time. Time is money, so why not invest in quality products that will save you time at the every least.
The summer months are here, but that doesn’t mean preparation for the fall should be put off as time flys by and it’ll be here before you know it. Put in the time and work now, to reap the rewards to come.

She’s more than just a duck dog.
It’s wild to sit and think of what a dog can bring to your life. Yes, a very big commitment, and something that you can’t not take seriously. It’ll come with levels of hair pulling frustration at times but most importantly, indescribable excitement that keeps a fire burning for the both of yous. Better yet, she’s a pivotal piece of our family.
It was another weekend away with people we love for the second annual strike force and quite literally so much thanks goes to our little girl Willow for bringing new people into our lives over the last few years, that we will undoubtedly call lifelong friends.
It all starts at the roots with our friends at providing the opportunity to have our little girl, but then to build such an incredible community of likeminded people isn’t something you’re able to find as easy today.
I said it before, “you’ll come for the dogs, but stay for the people.” The age discrepancy you find within the group from the people to the dogs, but to maintain such a positive and growth focused mindset is incredible. It’s something I’d encourage anyone to experience, at least once but guarantee you’ll stick far longer than you’d think. From a new pup to an old and wise ‘been there, done that’ dog, there’s something valuable within this community that is for any and everyone.
A huge shoutout to all the people behind the scenes that makes all the magic come together! We’re already looking forward to next year, but that does bring up an interesting question.

Imagine the stories this ‘51 F1 could tell.
The simple times, dusty dirt roads, a hard earned farm life, the joy rides, date nights at the drive in.
The dirty and battered hands that gripped the wheel, worn out boots that mashed the gas pedal of the boys turned to men within it.
Clean and fresh air flowing throughout its hand cranked windows, the picturesque sunrise to sunsets viewed peaking through its windshield.
The work done to the fun had. The help lended to the appreciation provided. A once hard, yet well earned trophy bought turned to a family farm truck.
Simple, uncomplicated, easily fixed yet built to last. Tough, rugged, and still standing a test of time 70+ years later. With a little attention and love, it would still pound the gravel like days of old.
Sometimes all you can do is imagine what could be said, by things with no words to say but with plenty of patina, scratches, dents, new paint to old rust, all provide a story to be told all by themselves.
Sometimes stories don’t need to be told with a single word.

What’s your view on the latest fishing tech now days?
Over the course of the last few weeks I’ve spent hours and hours on the water watching the latest and greatest products being put through their paces.
I’m the kind of guy who has zero issues using the best tools of the trade. Maximizing efficiency, productivity, and time as much as possible. has nailed it in each of those departments with their newest graphs, trolling motor and especially with the new sonar technology. I’m not your every day, 5 day a week fisherman, so to have the ability to locate, and fish your targeted species with such ease now days increases the enjoyment on the water, especially with limited time. Catching them on the other hand, that’s another battle and never gets old to put those pieces together.
Whether it’s camera equipment, hunting or fishing gear, I’ll never second guess investing into things that make our pursuits a little more enjoyable.
(PS… if you know of someone looking for some other name brand fishing equipment..ie graphs, sonars and a trolling motor I might know of some mint stuff up for grabs soon)

Not much luck was had on our end in the turkey woods but there’s never a shortage of sights, sounds and memories to store away.
Get out and experience something, be present, and take it in. You won’t regret it.
Even if you leave with an empty strap or an unpunched tag, you won’t leave feeling even an ounce of disappointment.

I’ve had the honor to know many family members, friends and individuals who made the choice that many wouldn’t, including myself to put there life on the line to serve the greatest country on this planet. I thank all of you for making that choice, to do something far greater than any single person can fathom.
I express an immense amount of appreciation to be able to pursue my dreams, protect my family, and live a life full of freedoms because of y’all.

Getting into the fields hasn’t been something I’ve had much time doing, but after this past year’s experiences it’ll be a priority to do more.
What’s not to like about it? Incredible dog work, deceptively challenging and fun wing shooting, plenty of laughs and camaraderie. Also it’s a breath of fresh air to have a much more chill and relaxed atmosphere compared to duck hunting 😅

Details
Being able to pay attention to the finest of details, nuances, and characteristics has been one of the things that has progressively taken over my eye on a shoot.
That logo wasn’t easy to catch in general, but especially when fishing at a pretty high pace let alone the twitch of each jig or snap of each jerk bait thrown.
It’s also pretty dang cool to share the boat with some of the best pros in fishing and to learn a thing or two as well.

Motion…being able to capture a split second of time is a pretty neat thing, especially when everything aligns at once.
I had an idea in my head of being able to capture the foot drag as they settle down, and this little rocket did it perfectly for me.
They so agile, quick and nimble yet this is a photo that expresses how graceful they can be.
A mesmerizing experience to sit and watch em put on a show.

Isn’t he so cute?! This little fawn was a freshy! The wife saw the momma from a distance and after closer examination she had a newbie right along with her. What was supposed to be a little time on the water fishing quickly rerouted into a moment meant to be captured. It was such a cool moment to slowly drift closer and take all that cuteness in. Also, peep those mallards! How cool is that? It’s pretty dang sweet to see some fresh legs splash around but to have a couple feathered friends close by made for a pretty epic shot. Let’s talk about it! Luck.. Sometimes luck is just on your side. As much as people want to say they were in the right place, at the right time, looking at the right thing, with perfect exposure, focus and vision…that’s not always necessarily the case. There’s so many variables, and we as professionals try our hardest to control every last one when applicable however there’s just certain shots that are completely unprompted, and by the luck of the draw turn out to hit just right. The ending of this clip was an example of that, standing way back in the foreground with the 100-500mm and everything just fell into place, exactly as you’d hope completely unstaged. Sure focused pulled, tracking subject, exposure controlled etc, but some of a projects highlights can come completely unexpected, however a clear reason as to why not to cut a shot short, or to think as if you have enough content. It’s easy to get lost in the world of what’s trendy now days, that it can take away from the work itself. Rather then tying the hook with the trending audio for this client, I wanted to grab the viewers attention with some clean and crisp sfx tied to a variety of different focal lengths to have that more immersive feel as well to build anticipation for what’s to follow. I’ve found the importance of taking multiple focal length shots, and utilizing 2-3 different lens combinations throughout a shoot to gain a more cinematic appeal to the eye. Also, don’t be afraid to get creative after the shoot, and explore some possibilities with stock footage. @artlist.io has some useful tools in this department as well as in the sound effect category.
