Hanford Joint Union High School District presented a State of the District report at a luncheon attended by District Leaders from both HJUHSD and feeder districts, City of Hanford Officials, County of Kings Officials, and various other stakeholders. Superintendent, Dr. Victor Rosa, began the presentation with a Video highlighting many of the successes and projects of the last five years which can be viewed here. The video and presentation began with Dr. Rosa sharing the District Focus Areas that were developed including a Multi Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) which focuses on supporting strong academics, positive behavior, and Social-Emotional Supports to all students. Additionally, School Safety, Marketing and Communication, Data Management, and School Facilities were presented.
Although MTSS is our primary focus and the crux of our work as a district, the most visible Focus Area from a public perspective is Facilities. Rosa stated. In that area a long list of facility improvements was presented from items that are less visible, like expanding IT infrastructure, to much more visible items, like the Neighbor Bowl renovation, campus remodels, new buildings, and much more. The expansion and improvements of our athletic and performance facilities has also been very noteworthy and met with a lot of community praise and support.
School and student safety was also a major focus area with the addition of CrisisGo. This program and application allows staff to very simply report any type of emergency incident and very quickly and simply receive instruction on what to do in the moment. The program is very robust and interactive with Hanford PD and Emergency Services.
Another area of focus was on Communication and Marketing. The district recognized that there are a lot of misconceptions of what programs are offered and not offered. Most adults only have the frame of reference from when they were in school and don't always understand how much things have changed with technolog
