A new immersive art installation opens to the public tomorrow and runs through mid February. Experience Horizon in the Mercato event lawn. It’s an illumination and sound installation designed to relax and instill positive energy and tranquility. A VIP preview was held Nov. 22.
Horizon features a collection of five cocoon-shaped structures, each equipped with an artfully curved wooden bench that, when rocked, triggers a synchronized light and sound display on the egg-shaped dome overhead. Drawing influence from nature, three unique sky-themed visuals (starry vault, flock of birds, and calming canopy) dance and pulse to life, accompanied by relaxing music meant to generate feelings of comfort and serenity for the user. Horizon was created by Olivier Landreville in collaboration with Serge Maheu, produced by Init, and tour-produced by Creos, a Quebec-based production company specializing in world-class interactive installations that transform public spaces.

Installation of the interactive pods at Mercato begins November 20 on the event lawn across from Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The artful display will officially be illuminated for the public to enjoy Nov. 23 through Feb. 9.
