Sports Desk With Dom Nicastro Join host Dom Nicastro for the latest in local sports out of the North Shore and Merrimack Valley The "Nick" in that equation retired in August 2023.

Our history:

From August 2013 to August 2023, "Nic & Nick" -- owned by Kelley Media -- ran out of 1049 FM most of those years. It went podcast on MSONewsports.com in June 2022 after the radio station was sold. We're all about sports -- and all about sports on the North Shore and Merrimack Valley of Mass. and Southern NH. Sure, we'll dabble into a few other topics here and there during our weekly

podcast, but our mission is to bring you the voices from those who make the North Shore, Merrimack Valley and Southern NH sports scenes special: athletes, coaches, experts, observers, fans, administrators and whoever's got something to say. Dom Nicastro -- "Nic" -- is an award-winning sportswriter, editor and former sports editor and editor of the Gloucester Daily Times. He writes freelance for various North Shore newspapers for wickedlocal.com and has been published in several other media, including WEEI.com, the Yawkey Way Report Magazine, Boston Magazine and Hockey Night in Boston Magazine and is a full-time reporter for Simpler Media Group. He is a 1995 graduate of Gloucester High School and 2000 graduate of the now Salem State University, where he was a starter on the 1999 MASCAC champion baseball team. He now lives in Swampscott, has directed Little League there and has a blast with wife, the beautiful, ageless Pamela, son Matthew and son Mackie the pup. He misses his doggy buddies Twix and Crasher every day.

Well, that's a wrap. 10 years we've been a duo. The "Nick" of "Nic & Nick" has called it quits. Today is his last show.

We'll be going solo with Dom from here on out.

Thanks, Nick, for a great run. From 1049 FM's tiny studio, to its bigger studio, to all points North Shore far and wide, to Zoom and to now to MSONewsports, we'll miss the Nick-isms and having your pulse on all things North Shore and Merrimack Valley.

Great job today by the PWI (Potential Winter Intern) Luke Graham of Hamilton-Wenham boys hockey and Landmark School.

Luke got a shutout against Lynn and performed just as well in studio for us today on Day 1, not to mention his great prep work and locking down another guest already for next week.

He's got the potential to make this a regular gig!

OUR CO-HOSTS Dom Nicastro -- "Nic" -- is an award-winning sportswriter, editor and former sports editor and editor of the Gloucester Daily Times. The 1977-born journalist now writes freelance for various North Shore newspapers for wickedlocal.com and has been published in several other media, including the Yawkey Way Report Magazine, Boston Magazine and Hockey Night in Boston Magazine. He is a 1995 graduate of Gloucester High School and 2000 graduate of the now Salem State University, where he was a starter on the 1999 MASCAC champion baseball team. He now lives in Swampscott, directs Little League there and has a blast with wife, the beautiful, ageless Pamela, son Matthew and doggy buddies Twix and Crasher. Nick Curcuru -- "Nick" -- is part of the award-winning Gloucester Daily Times staff as sports editor. He takes over a role at a newspaper where his grandfather, the legendary, late John "Doc" Enos, built quite the following and ultimate respect for his work on Cape Ann. Nick is also a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 2002, where he was a member of the 2000 undefeated Super Bowl champions. He lives in Gloucester with his wife and 79 children.
