FEMA will have a Disaster Recovery Center in Mount Ayr for another week starting Thursday June 6 through Wednesday, June 12. Recovery specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration will provide information on available services, explain assistance programs and help survivors complete or check the status of their applications.

Peter and Michelle Breach, and their crisis response dog named Kip, passed through Ringgold County just after Memorial Day. The couple is on a mission to walk/run across the country to raise awareness for HOPE Animal-Assisted Crisis Response (HOPE AACR).

“The community of Greenfield is going through an unimaginable tragedy and I am so thankful that our responders were willing to jump in and assist,” said Melissia Stark, Ringgold County EMA/E911 Coordinator.
We had response from Ringgold County law enforcement, fire, ems, and ema on the ground on Tuesday night. Firefighters from all over the county donated parts of their weekend to assist and emergency management has been there almost every day since the incident occurred.

FEMA representatives are at the UBPC Church west of Mount Ayr until 7 p.m. today (May 27) and tomorrow (May 28). Anyone who had any storm damage, including hail, needs to talk to them. They can help with several things.

FEMA teams will begin canvassing neighborhoods in Greenfield on Saturday, May 25 to help survivors of this week’s devastating tornado. FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) teams will work in coordination with state and county emergency management.

FEMA can provide money to eligible applicants for help with serious needs, paying for a temporary place to live, home repairs, medical expenses and other needs not covered by insurance.

DSA personnel help survivors apply with FEMA and address immediate and emerging needs. They also provide application status updates and referrals to additional community resources.

FEMA DSA staff can easily be identified by their federal photo identification and FEMA clothing. Residents are encouraged to ask for official photo ID before providing personal information. More info available online 👇

Congratulations City of Mount Ayr!!!
The Enhance Iowa Board awarded $3,025,047 in Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grants to projects in 10 communities today...including THE CITY OF MOUNT AYR! The new aquatic center received $340,000 toward the $3,243,700 replacement of the existing pool with a 4,000-square-foot outdoor pool with lap lanes, two diving boards, resistance channel, spray features, a family slide, a traditional slide, zero depth entry, sunshades and lighting.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 30, thieves used a vehicle to topple an ATM machine at PCSB bank in Mount Ayr. After encountering technical difficulties, they fled without any money, leaving various tools and the vehicle stuck in the mud east of the ATM. The Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office is still in the process of investigating and reviewing security footage of the incident. Any information may be reported by calling 641-464-3921.
