Founded in 1960 by Jerome Goldstein as the journal, Compost Science, BioCycle is the go-to resource on composting, organics recycling, anaerobic digestion and biogas, end product markets, policies and regulations, and community outreach and education. In 2020, we transitioned to digital only through our weekly e-newsletter, BioCycle CONNECT, and our newly relaunched website, BioCycle.net. BioCycle

Starting July 1, 2026, “BEST if Used By” will be used to communicate peak quality, and “Use By” will be used to communicate product safety. To further reduce confusion on food date labeling, California's AB 660 prohibits the use of consumer facing “sell by” dates, reducing the likelihood of confusing “sell by” dates with quality and/or safety dates.

The report “Opportunities for Prevention with Household Food Waste Collections” found that habitual caddy usage can be linked to lower household costs and “serves as a reminder of food wasted, making people more mindful and conscientious of their waste."
