For those of you with pets needing shelter from the Sun:
Washington County has opened a pet-friendly cooling space at the Salvation Army located at 1440 SE 21st Avenue in Hillsboro. The air-conditioned facility will be open until 9 p.m. tonight.
Washington County staff will be on hand to offer support to people with pets. Washington County Animal Services can provide crates, leashes, cat litter supplies, and food and water bowls if needed. Animals must remain in their crates while not using the relief area, and at those times, must be on a leash and with their person. Domestic animals only; no farm or exotic animals.
Hours of operation for the rest of the week are still being worked out. We will announce more information as it becomes available.
This Memorial Day we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country and to their families.
