“Summer wrecks my Sleep Score. How can I get back on track?”
For many, summer means longer days, warmer weather, and vacation time—all of which can have detrimental effects on your sleep. Oura advisor Rebecca Robbins, PhD, shares her top tips for saving your shuteye, while still savoring the season.

1. Darken your bedroom. Since melatonin, the sleep hormone, is influenced by light, a later sunset might delay your sleepiness. To help your body produce melatonin earlier, make your sleeping environment as dark as possible.
2. Prep for long-distance travel. Shift your bedtime earlier or later by 15 or 30 minutes per day (earlier if you’re heading east, later if you’re going west) before your trip to a different time zone.
3. Take advantage of sunlight. Viewing sunlight when you wake up and in the afternoon can reset your circadian rhythm, says Robbins. "A walk outside boosts your energy without relying on caffeine, which can interfere with your sleep.”

Our 26 Goodyear schools serving more than 13,000 young residents are headed back to school this month. That means a noticeable uptick in traffic. Drivers should always:

> Slow down and obey speed limits, both in school zones and in neighborhoods.
> Avoid double parking or stopping on crosswalks.
> Stop for a school bus with its red overhead lights flashing, regardless of the direction from which you are approaching.
> WATCH FOR CHILDREN! on the road and the sidewalk, playing and gathering near bus stop.

The Police traffic unit was formed in response to the increase in traffic, collisions and traffic-related offenses. Consisting of state-of-the-art BMW motorcycles, one Zero all-electric motorcycle and traffic enforcement vehicles, the traffic unit is dedicated to reducing injuries and fatalities ca...

Happy 4th of July, stay safe.

1. Always use fireworks outside and have a bucket of water/hose nearby in case of accidents.
2. Designate a safety perimeter. Ground-based fireworks should be observed from at least 35 feet away. For aerial fireworks, move back to around 150 feet.
3. Ditch faulty fireworks. Sometimes fireworks don’t go off, but duds always pose a risk to your safety. Let the duds sit for 5 -10 minutes before putting them in a water bucket.
4. Supervise children when they are handling sparklers.
5. Don’t forget about your pets! Keep your pets indoors and give them treats or toys filled with their favorite food.
6. Soak both spent and unused fireworks in water for a few hours before discarding.
7. Never place a part of your body directly over a firework or hold a firework in your hand when lighting.
8. Only light one firework at a time.
9. Avoid alcohol consumption when handling or using fireworks.
10. Consider safe alternatives to fireworks such as party poppers, bubbles, silly string, or glow sticks.

Skimming occurs when devices are illegally installed on ATMs, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, or fuel pumps to capture card data and record cardholders’ PINs. Criminals use the data from the magnetic strip of a credit card or debit card to steal the cardholder’s name, card number, expiration date, CVV code, and billing zip code. The information is then stored on the device for the criminals to create fake debit or credit cards to steal money from victims’ accounts.
