✈️ SF Fleet Week 2025 Update: Air Show in Question Amid Federal Shutdown 🇺🇸🇨🇦🌉

San Francisco’s iconic Fleet Week air show might look a little different this year — or possibly be postponed altogether until 2026 — due to the ongoing federal government shutdown.

As of now, U.S. military pilots from Navy Region Southwest are unable to participate, and if the shutdown isn’t resolved soon, they’ll be grounded this year. The original air show was scheduled for the weekend of October 10–12, 2025, but that’s now up in the air — literally. 🛩️

🧠💚 World Mental Health Day 2025
October 10

At San Francisco News, we believe that a healthy city starts with healthy minds.

This year’s theme — “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right” — is a powerful reminder: everyone deserves access to mental health support, free from stigma or shame.

In a world that moves fast, take a moment today to slow down, check in with yourself, and reach out to others. Mental health matters — in San Francisco and beyond.

🕊 You’re not alone. And it’s okay to ask for help.

Early Sunday morning, October 5, first responders rushed to a residential high-rise on the 300 block of the Tenderloin after reports of an apartment fire — and what followed was a tense and dangerous situation.

💥 A suspect had barricaded himself inside a 7th-floor unit, actively resisting arrest and allegedly setting the fire himself.
👮‍♂️ As SFPD officers and firefighters forced entry to stop the blaze and apprehend the individual, two officers sustained injuries and were hospitalized. Thankfully, their injuries were non-life-threatening.
👥 Two other tenants were treated at the scene but declined further medical attention.

By 7:25 a.m., the fire was successfully contained, thanks to the rapid response from San Francisco’s firefighters and police.

After 75 years serving the Inner Sunset, Progress Hardware will not be returning. The beloved neighborhood fixture at 724 Irving Street, family-owned since 1948, was devastated by a 3-alarm fire in August 2023 — and the road to recovery has proven too steep.

In the months that followed, the community rallied. A GoFundMe raised over $63,000, and support came from the SF Office of Small Businesses and Supervisor Myrna Melgar, whose office granted $9,750 in fire relief funds. 🙏

In January, a fire next door left her 400 sq ft bakery smoke-damaged. By May, she’d finally reopened — and sold out everything during her soft launch. Even the mayor came by for his cookie fix. 🙌
