Do I still send them? Not often enough! So much to say that I often say nothing. Dont start me talking - Ill tell everything I know.
I think Tampa Red is the one who said that, or was it Lonnie Johnson? One of the amazing blues artists who was almost forgotten. Just the foundation of American music (as in blues, country, jazz, rock and roll, RnB, hiphop) that's all.
Go back to Europe and you find the music we will play tomorrow (Friday) night in Sherefe at Full Cycle. We will be honoring our dear Brett Bowen who is now drumming in another realm. He is deeply missed - a percussionist of great knowledge and experience.The myriad intricate rhythms of the middle east and eastern europe were no mystery to Brett. The great David Hinajosa will sit in his chair and there will be other guests. The website says it's sold out, so maybe come down and see if you can squeeze in.
Kirtan is ongoing bliss in weekly installments, and I dont say that lightly. I mean - its light, not lightweight.
MMM continues at Meadows - and stay tuned because it's rumored to be starting up again, additionally, at the Canyon Theater at the main library. Wow! Midday Meditation twice a month!
Dexter Payne Quintet, my favorite band that almost never plays is getting a bit of a revival this year. And we are kicking it off with a real bang at Full Cycle on March 16. Bill coudnt make the date but, in his place - Khabu Doug Young will grace us with his inspired guitar. Dont miss this one!
