I absolutely love the VFX world - I spent this week really researching my next step to take and what that looks like procedurally to become a VFX compositor on a large budget film.

In doing so I came across the old Deepfaked VFX version of the Lion King trailer that had everyone talking a bit ago.

In Disney's race to become SO REAL - I think they forgot that most of the magic in connecting with these characters was in the SURREAL. What made this movie so epic were the characters and personalities that we could connect with emotionally and semi-tangibly through the visual personification of these characters.

I spent half the night last night watching Dumbo and was semi-weirded out and bored since the entire movie now had to be held together by the voices surrounding the animals.

Sorry Disney - although you may have cashed out at the box office in the short-term - I personally, think your attempt to mash up the realistic, modern (look at our technology) move fell short of the long-run classic that could have been brought back to life here.
