Fargo Parole, Probation, and Pretrial Services Seeks High-Risk S*x Offender

Bismarck, ND – The Fargo Parole, Probation, and Pretrial Services Office is seeking a high-risk s*x offender whose global positioning monitoring (GPS) bracelet is not registering and no longer can be accounted for or located.

Ronald Scott Thompson, 61, is a Caucasian male, 5’07”, 160 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. His current whereabouts are unknown; however, his GPS bracelet showed his last location in Grand Forks, ND. Thompson is currently on supervision for Possession of Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine-2nd Offense and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-2nd offense.

An identifying photo of Thompson is attached to this press release.

Anyone with information about Thompson’s whereabouts should contact their local law enforcement agency, or the Fargo Parole, Probation, and Pretrial Services office at 701-239-7272.

Long Feather was assessed as a HIGH-RISK offender by the North Dakota S*x Offender Risk Assessment Committee. The following information describes Long Feather and his offense:

In 2019, Long Feather was convicted of two counts of s*xual abuse of a minor in U.S. Federal Court in North Dakota; the victims were 13-year-old females. He was also convicted of possession of image(s) with s*xual exploit of a minor in U.S. Federal Court in North Dakota; the victim was a 14-year-old female.

Long Feather is a high-risk lifetime registrant.

Cass County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Scam Tactic

CASS COUNTY, N.D. (June 19th, 2024) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office wishes to inform the public of a scam tactic in the F-M area, causing concern for our Office. Yesterday, our Office took a report from a scam victim who had been contacted a scammer identifying himself as deputy with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. When the victim questioned the legitimacy of the phone call, the scammer claimed to be with “Sheriff Jahner,” and another male then spoke with the victim. When the victim asked for “Sheriff Jahner’s” unit number, the correct unit number was provided. The scammer invited the victim to come to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center in North Fargo, if the victim wanted further verification. After providing fictitious court and case numbers, the scammer convinced the victim to send money through a Bitcoin machine, and the victim lost all funds.

Scammers are now using open-source information to validate deputies’ information prior to calling a potential.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Law enforcement will never request payment through Bitcoin.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the public to remain vigilant if they receive a phone call from a deputy within our office. If at any time you don’t feel the circumstances are adding up; simply end the phone conversation, call the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at (701) 451-7660, and request to speak with a deputy. Dispatch will transfer the call to an on-shift deputy and the deputy will assist in providing legitimacy to the original phone call. Given the amount of scamming occurrences law enforcement is notified of our office fully understands at times we may be questioned on legitimacy, and we would prefer someone follow the verification process before falling victim.

An important reminder for the public regarding warrants:

At times, Cass County personnel will place phone calls notifying individuals of a warrant in an attempt to set up a court appearance. However, under no circumstances is bond payment requested by sheriff’s office personnel over the telephone and/or in any form other than cash. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office will accept payment on a warrant; however, the bond must be paid in cash and must be done at the court house. If you have any questions regarding an active warrant and/or the validity of a phone call being notified of an active warrant, the sheriff’s office encourages you to call our warrant division at: (701) 241-1283.
