Detroit Film Producer Empowers Local Filmmakers with a 40,000 sqft Production Studio, Funding and Distribution

Detroit Filmmaker Dennis L. Reed II is empowering local film artists with his 40,000 sqft studio, DR2 Productions in Southfield. At his local film studio he’s built replicas of a courtroom set, hospital rooms, luxury apartments, a chapel, jail cells and even an upcoming airport lounge - all to ensure local filmmakers have access to create their movies without limitations and without leaving Detroit.

The props and sets are exciting but Dennis has also moved real money into the hands of local artists via an annual brunch which secured half a million in funding for local filmmakers and aims to distribute two million dollars next year via his role as co-founder of Homestead Entertainment, an Independent Distribution Company. Known as the King of Tubi with16 #1 projects on the streaming app his work has become synonymous with the channel where he’s enjoyed tremendous success. When touring his studio Dennis expressed that he “built this for us” - meaning Detroit Filmmakers - to shoot their projects affordably. Homestead’s website makes it clear they support Black and Female filmmakers - a refreshing and inspiring concept in the film world. This local gem eliminates obstacles in filmmaking encouraging artists to dream big and keep it local!
