Susie just had her Christmas. She found an ear ring that was a birthday present that disappeared 3 weeks ago under a chair in the den. A wonderful way to start the week.

The 2016 North Carolina State Fair Horse Show is history. The show, especially the saddlebreds, was good. Some regular exhibitors of everything coming from the eastern part of the state were absent because of the devastation caused by hurricane Matthew. If you looked at the pictures or talked to people from that area, you understand.

Next week , Nov. 4 - 6, is the Harvest Days show in Tampa, followed by the Arabian Horse Association of Florida (AHAF) Thanksgiving Show November 25 and 26, also in Tampa. We will be at both shows, offering your videos on either DVDs or SD cards. We are looking forward to seeing there.

Getting cranked up for the last shows of the season, starting with the NC State Fair Oct. 13 - 23 in Raleigh. This year, we are offering SD cards as well as DVDs of your classes. Just let us know your preference when you sign up for your classes.

We have 2 shows in Tampa, FL. First is Harvest Days and then, the Thanksgiving Arabian Show. Our breed preference is HORSE PEOPLE! Hoping to see a lot of you there. Tampa is a pretty nice place. So is the Big Bend National Park in SW Texas, where this picture was made. Makes a good winter trip. Too hot in the summer.

Devils Tower. Wyoming. You might remember it from the film "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". In any case, put it on your bucket list. A personal Close Encounter is well worth the trip. Be sure to walk around the base. Lots of opportunities to ride horses in that part of the US, too.

Those of you who are interested know by now that the WCAHA Arabian show scheduled for Labor Day weekend has been cancelled. It's unfortunate there is so little participation in showing a horse just for fun. Seems that "qualifying" is the only thing.

The Magnolia Summer Sizzler Arabian show is this weekend in Perry, GA. Unfortunately, we are not going to be able to be there. However, we will be at the WCAHA fall show in Clemson Labor Day weekend. The football game is in Auburn, AL, so you will have some place to lay your weary head. Come on to the show. It should be fun.

Finished up a long trip to Lexington, VA. The Asheville Invitational is next week It is a little different for us. I dig out my music playing hat for this one, while Susie and Nancy Baker do the videos. See you there!

This week, we are back at the VHC for the Roanoke Valley Horse Show. Looks like it is going to be a good one. Starts tonight.

We succeeded at something last week. We started the week wanting to do nothing. We camped at Otter Creek campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway, about 25 miles from the VHC. Electronic devices do not work there. You have to go down the Parkway for about 3 miles to the James River bridge for a connection. Too much trouble. Better to do nothing. Had a great week dry-camping.
