When my wife and I lived in St. Petersburg, Russia, I got to see one of my favorite paintings...Rembrandt's...The Return of the Prodigal Son. It depicts the moving scene in Jesus' parable when..the father ran toward his wayward son...The painting is worth a fortune. Now just imagine if one day you visit St. Petersburg, and there in a back-alley dumpster you discover Rembrandt's masterpiece...It's covered in mud and dirt, it's stained, and the canvas has been torn...How would you treat this painting? Would you treat it like trash? We wouldn't try to clean it up ourselves; we would bring it to a master, who would delicately restore it to its original condition.
So why do we struggle to treat people like the immensely valuable, one-of-a-kind Masterpiece God created with his own hand? Jesus could see something worth dying for in all the people he encountered. Jesus could see past the mud to the Masterpiece God wanted to restore.

John Burke, lead pastor of Gateway Church in Austin, Texas, will be our featured guest on Hill Country Institute Live: Exploring Christ & Culture, on Saturday, April 12th, at 1 PM CST, on KLGO.net and at 1490 AM in the Austin area. Randall Flinn, Founder and Director of Ad Deum Dance Company, Houston, Texas, will be our featured guest on Hill Country Institute Live: Exploring Christ & Culture, at 1 PM CST, Saturday, April 5th, at KLGO.net and in the Austin area, Radio 1490 AM. Here's an interesting update on the Noah movie, currently the number one movie:
--Online Bible publishers report spikes in the number of people reading Genesis ( + 250 % or more !)
--The film is controversial, but according to Cinema Score (the exit polling firm of movies) only 14% of people don’t like NOAH – so it’s a loud minority
--According to Cinema Score, 4 times as many people like NOAH (and give it an A or B grade) than don’t like NOAH (giving it a D or F grade)
--Many Christian Leaders that are now lending their support to the film
--The artist singing in the video is Kim Walker-Smith, Christian singer, songwriter, and worship leader. Kim’s rendition of the John Mark McMillan song, "How He Loves", has been viewed over 9.5 million times on YouTube .
--Her rendition of Brian Johnson and Jon Mohr song, "Where You Go I Go", has over 4 million views.

Hill Country Institute Live: Exploring Christ & Culture will feature a discussion of the book "Why Business Matters to God" with author Jeff Van Duzer on Saturday, March 22nd, at 1 PM CST on KLGO and at KLGO.net. Jeff is an attorney who left a successful practice to become Dean of the Business School at Seattle Pacific University and is now Provost.
