2024 Pacific Orchids Exposition in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco was an opportunity to buy some exotic plants. They are not easy to take care of but continue blooming for 6 to 8 weeks in early spring.

Maverick Beach during extremely low tide was a clam gathering heaven on Christmas Day in Half Moon Bay, California.

San Francisco Bay ferry from South San Francisco to East Bay - Oakland and Alameda, carrying Genentech employees M-F to and from work. Not available on weekends.
There was one ride daily to and from San Francisco but it was cancelled due to low popularity. Sad.

Rodeo Beach, across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. Great hikes and views. Bring your food and have a picnic on the beach. It is not dirty. The sand was made from dark, volcanic rocks.

Joined my Gate 1 Travel tour on Thursday. We started our exploration by visiting Al Fahidi Historic District and Dubai Museum.

If you think this is Venice you are wrong. This is Dubai’s version of Venice with salt water canals and abra boats. All hotels in the area are very expensive. Madinat Jumeirah Souk is not cheap either but the shopping is less hectic than in Old Dubai souks.

Vacation on Mauritius are truly relaxing. Beautiful beaches and not too hot weather in September, when the summer is about to start. I am traveling alone and it is very safe and easy to explore this island where children learn in schools to speak both French and English.

Di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art in Napa, California presents exhibitions and a permanent collection of notable works by artists living or working in San Francisco Bay Area from the mid-twentieth century to the present day. Guided tours are offered daily at 1:30 pm.

Hiller Aviation Museum is not a big place but shows the past, present and future of aviation. Imagination playground is good for little ones. There is access to a helicopter, airplane and jet. Invention Lab and Flight Sim Zone are open for school groups and summer campers.

Spring at Fiololi is spectacular. Blooms of camellias, magnolias and daffodils make it the glorious season. Stroll the gardens with family or friends and breathe the colors and beauty of nature.

Wild dear were a little skittish but strongly attracted to garden grasses. Meeting local inhabitants of the estate was a very special ending of our visit at Filoli

Holiday decorations at Filoli estate. Only garden was opened for public due to coronavirus. Amount of guests was much smaller than usual which made it easier to photograph this enchanting place.

SFMOMA is also open and follows the same rules as other museums. Museum shop and restaurant (only boxed food to take outside, with plastic utensils included) are opened too. Less new exhibits but plenty to see in modern surroundings. Viewing art is for me a therapy, helps me forget about coronavirus pandemic.

De Young museum is now open for public visits. Tickets have to be purchased online so the number of arriving guests can be limited. Everybody has to wear a mask and keep 6 feet distance from others.
