After 9 years, I was able to get back on the board! 🤗 I was just finishing up a logo, closed up my laptop (thank you to my husband who basically built a studio apartment for me to hunt out of) and not long after, this guy walked out. I had decided I was gonna pass him and instead, took a video of him to send to Kyle...well, somewhere along the line, I changed my mind, took some deep breaths to calm my nerves and took my shot...I was shaking like a dang leaf the entire time, but I'm pretty sure Kyle was having a full-blown heart attack at home! 😆
Everything felt good, sounded good and looked good, but when my husband, brother and brother-in-law showed up an hour later and we began tracking, doubt started creeping in and my heart was starting to sink. At around 120 yards we found half my arrow, and at 180 yards, we lost blood entirely. We made the decision to not go any further and called in a drone. After a sleepless night, we were finally able to recover him! This deer made it 600 yards, even with a well-placed shot 🤯🤯. I was so grateful to recover him and even happier to see him up close and get my hands on him! Hopefully it doesn't take another 9 years to my next opportunity, but if it does, so be it! Super happy with this guy!
